Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

Micio, while they want us to believe that they can leap to anything with perfect precision, occasionally they can miss. Adding a little netting to prevent an unintentional free fall is not a bad thing. :)

Thread Manager's Corner:
This week was not a good one for Mr. Me. He's at a precipice with his right eye, which was the better one up until now, so we ended up spending much of the week visiting the eye doctor and for me making multiple trips to the veterinary school as well. Obviously, Mr. Me is not very photogenic right now as we try to find a path to improvement. I certainly hope all the other kitties stay healthy and are ready for summer fun as we in the US mark the unofficial start of summer this holiday weekend. :)

I find this weird. Micio loves to sleep on my shoes. It must be uncomfortable, but it is a favourite spot.

Never seen a cat sit up and beg like some dogs do.

Looking at the puncture wounds, it does indeed look like it was Sammy's toy until Jack spirited it away! But they should get down to some real useful cat work. Taking care of any rats that might be in the neighborhood. :)

In a recent study on the response of cats to different scents, the scent samples from their owners included one taken from between the toes, so Micio may be just proving that cats know their owner's scent and are perhaps comforted by it.

There is a "my turn" look about the kitty and his or her anticipation of receiving a treat, meanwhile everyone else waits patiently for their turn. I also like how you can see the tail jutting out for balance. Well timed. :)

This happens all the time in Istanbul/Kadikoy.

I really like this profile shot. Looking forward while his ears look back to determine what that sound is from behind. Lots of detail in that black fur too. :)
