    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Settled Kitty of the Week!

    Street Cats of Istanbul

    Comfortably settled in, we can enjoy this kitty's roundness of appearance, paws tucked away out of sight, whiskers hanging down in a semicircle, multiple tabby necklaces all carefully centered on a round cushion. :)

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #922 / DPRv #115 / Sunday Cats! #14
    With a special acknowledgement of the one year anniversary of Niusia's passing.

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    Here at the Sunday Cat! we celebrate our kitties past and present, through their images and the stories we share. Photos give us a chance to preserve the memories, and in posting their images, they may well outlive us! So never be concerned about sharing remembrances of our special friends.

    This week Mr. Me took a turn for the better. His remaining eye is not going to improve but his cattitude and spirit seem to have returned the last few days. I really hadn't realized how diminished he had been from what was probably a lot of pain in his failing eye. It's good to have him back. :) He's definitely on the road to recovery now.

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    Oops. I just noticed that my numbering is off for the DPRv editions of the Sunday Cat! I've corrected it here. Not sure if I'll go back and fix the others (#101 which was March 9 was used again on the 16th.)
    Thanks. As it turns out, my optimism was getting ahead of reality. More later when I start the new week.
    Since it has been such a quiet week, I'll put up one of my own, which I actually meant to put up earlier this week but never got onto my computer at all since last Sunday! That way I know which image to pick for this Sunday's cat! ;)
    This stoic kitty has been hanging around the Rockville Cemetery for the better part of a decade now, and perhaps longer. On Memorial Day (May 26, 2025):
    The interesting thing is that this kitty moves around the cemetery. Here he is in 2018:
    And dressed up for Easter in 2021:
    Sometime in 2022 he decided to move:
    So now he spends his time staring across the aisle, at where he used to "live". :)
    Hi,
    I like it. I now have the idea to get one and paint it to look like my parents favorite cat.
