    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Resting Kitty of the Week!

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #930 / DPRv #122 / Sunday Cats! #22

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    This week I'm checking carefully to make sure I have the right dates, have incremented the counts properly and in general am trying to keep things going in the right direction! Unlike Fred, Mr. Me's hunting days are over, except for treats rolled across the floor for him to chase, if he sees them, or sniff them out if he doesn't. Last week he had the fun of visiting both of his doctors, and did well on both exams! Thursday he received his second chemo treatment and doesn't have to see either doctor again for four weeks, unless he decides otherwise... So, we're hoping for a happier cat now that he doesn't have to ride in a car so frequently. Mr. Me hopes that every kitty's trips to the vet are as infrequent as they can be. :D

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    This is old but I found it while rummaging in archives and liked it so here it is, as shot, sunset on Lake Martin in west Louisiana.
    I like the way the (mostly) white cat glows in the darkening landscape. I used to have a mostly white calico who spent much of the day outside (back when it was safer to do that). When we'd call her in at dark she could be easily seen, coming down the hill, glowing in the near dark.
    Have you ever wondered what your cat is thinking when they follow you into the bathroom?
    Lexi and Arni are thinking "what is he doing there and not in the cat box". I guess I should
    explain things to them.
    What's up with Lexi's eye? I hope there's nothing wrong!
    Arni's eye is fine. I took a series of photos and this was the only one like that. I thought he was winking at me HA
    This is what Chat gpt had to say:
    It looks like the two cats are just hanging out together on the bathroom counter! Cats often like bathrooms because:
    The counters are cool and smooth.
    There are lots of interesting smells.
    They enjoy being near sinks (many cats are fascinated by water).
    They like following their humans everywhere—even the bathroom.
    These two seem to be calmly sitting side by side, maybe curious about what you’re doing or just enjoying each other’s company.
    Do they usually like to spend time in the bathroom, or is this unusual for them?
    this sounds reasonable to me, chat gpt knows all....well maybe.
    I'm glad it was just a lucky catch! What with Kim's trials with Mr. Me and all. Sorry I got the name wrong. Lexi (the solid grey one, in case I got the names wrong again) sure looks horrified about something!
    I say just let him sleep it off!
    We had a fun episode with my first cat, Smokey, who I had when I was a child. His various things were kept on the bottom shelf of a lower cabinet in the kitchen. Back then dried catnip was sold in little cardboard boxes. Anyway, we came home one day to find the cabinet open, the box in shreds, and Smokey lying on his back on the shelf with his head dangling upside down, totally stoned! Unfortunately this was way before cameras became ubiquitous, so I have no pictures but at least an indelible memory. Needless to say, the next box found a new home on a much higher shelf!
    Hi,
    Well, you have described it well enough to where I have a decent picture of it in my mind's eye. :)
    And Doris was outside running after bugs, so she must have stayed out of the Nip.
    With a sweet dreamy-eyed look like that, letting him sleep it off sounds like the best plan.
    She's a mirror image of Mr. Me who likes to stick out his left leg like that. In his case he seems to be showing off his long white glove. ;)
