Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Exquisite Kitty of the Week!

    KK - KitKat

KK (KitKat) striking and elegant, with her head cradled in her magnificent ruff. :D

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

"Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don't accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #943 / DPRv #135 / Sunday Cats! #35

    Thread Manager's Corner:
A little bit late today. Mr. Me had a veterinarian appointment right at the time I needed to be posting this, and then other things needed to be done after, so here we are. But the late time seemed to allow for a few more comments on the prior thread. :) I'm glad to see some returning visitors and their friends! Welcome back to all!! DPR seems to be less of a good host than it used to be, so folks are giving this place try again. I hope you will keep coming back. It's sad to see how things are over there, especially the Sunday Cat! back links, that while still working, as of today often are missing all or nearly all of the photos. Not to mention the titles (I guess I mentioned it...) It's also halfway amusing to see how DPRv is becoming something of a resource and knowledge base for DPR issues in the Open Discussions forum. ;) The Sunday Cat! lives on here, and what is happening over there makes me glad that I didn't try to move it back when DPR itself was revived. I hope you all will continue to contribute here and invite others to come as well. :) Now on to the kitties!

Yes, the "Improved" DPR, is a disaster. I hardly visit anymore, as the Threaded view let me rapidly skim past the rubbish posts.

Hinting at the gorgeous kitty yet to come! I think that's some of the reason why cats are internet stars. They are attractive creatures, and it is a pleasure just to look at them. :)

Micio seems to have a little of a, "oh no, you've found me" look. Yes, they are good at hiding when not well or when they know you're looking for them to take them to the vet. Mr. Me has been sharpening his disappearing skills, even though he can't see what he's doing! Despite my making only the slightest sound of the carrier being brought out for his next visit (weekly at a minimum now), he picks up on it and can vanish on me. He has many places to hide and continues to find new ones...

Many years ago, my then roommate and I had 3 cats. We always took them all at the same time for their annual check-up and shots, each in her own carrier. The folks at the vet clinic dubbed us "the cat circus ". Anyway, there was a particular order we had to "box them up" in. One we had to grab before we got the carriers out, or she was un-findable. The second would first freeze in a panic before heading for cover, giving us just enough time to grab her next. The third cat never did figure out the sound of getting the carriers out inevitably meant she was going to be stuffed into one.

Cats have incredible hearing and I think they use smell a lot to navigate. Micio, can hear us getting his carrying box from the attic, and if we are not careful will disappear under our bed.

Our last cat did not mind travel, but this one hates even the five minuite visit to the vets.

    Hi,

    They are on to me.

I thought it was time this week for a few update shots of the kittens. Every time they are doing something cute and I go to take a shot, they quit and wander off.

They are on to me. :P

It definitely seems that no two cats are alike, and because we live much longer than they do, we have the opportunity to experience a number of cat personalities.

Mr. Me has been somewhat hampered with his sense of smell due to an upper respiratory virus. The meds he's been getting seem to have finally knocked it out. I noticed him just a little while ago smelling everything in one corner of the room like he was trying to reorient himself. I'm hoping that his eating will get better now that his nose seems to have cleared up. He's not been his normal self for the last week or so.

Before he lost his eyes Mr. Me was very good at "see camera, hide from camera." He's a little more vulnerable now, but when he hears a focus beep or focus motors running, he seems to make a point of getting out of the position he was in, or at the least adding motion to blur most of my photos!
