    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Choosy Kitty of the Week!

    Cali

    When winter is nigh, Cali knows which family to adopt. The one offering a warm bed to snuggle into! :)

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

    "Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late, like today. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don't accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Normally, I use this section for the kitties lost, but because of my personal connection, and because Lynne was a Sunday Cat! participant, I thought to make an exception here. Actually, over the years I have become aware of the passing of other members of the Sunday Cat! community, but in the online environment we are seldom notified of this, leaving no opportunity to note a passing. We are just left to wonder when we don't hear from members again. In this case, Lynne was a personal friend of almost 50 years, giving me the opportunity to inform you.

    When I took over the Sunday Cat! in 2016, Lynne joined DPReview so she could comment on the kitty photos. She expanded her interest there to the Weekly Image Thread as well, and once the Sunday Cat! jumped here, followed us and more recently became interested in and followed the Weekly Street Photography thread. She did not contribute her own images, but used an artistic eye to comment on photos, and deep knowledge of cats and more generally of nature to identify what flower or bird was in a photo or comment on kitty psychology. ;) Most importantly however, she enjoyed seeing the world through your eyes as you shared your photos. This community is worldwide, and because the images are shared by people from any location, we have the opportunity to see places and things we would never otherwise get to visit.

    Thank you Sunday Cat! and Weekly Street Photography communities for opening your world to others like Lynne.

    ~~~ Kim
    Micio has been poorly with a bladder infection problem. We have been backwards and forwards to the vets, and we have a ton of medicines to give him, as well as a special diet. He has been waking us up at 3.30 as he wants to eat. Should pass in a few days.
    Meanwhile I like the way he found a pillow on the sofa.
    Poor guy. He has my sympathy and Mr. Me's as well. It can be very painful for them, and trying to get them better can be a trial. At least he is taking it lying down, which might be the best thing for him!
    I am really sorry to read that we lost a very kind member of our community. I have been in a very down mood for some time, and I must say that it did not help me at all. 😢
    I apologize if I have darked your mood. That certainly was not intended. But it also shows the strength of these online communities. These are communities with real people behind the online names, with real feelings as well as respect, concern and appreciation for one another. I have actually been surprised by so many kind responses and only just now from this have come to realize how real and important these online communities are in our lives.
    She tried to limit her comments to opportunities where she thought that they would add value. It seems that she was successful. Thank you.
    Please, no need for an apology! I am a bit too sensitive nowadays, that's all.
    I am very sorry to hear this. I didn't know her at all outside this forum, but I am also sad at the loss of a fellow 'snapper'. Her comments were wise and thoughful and she will be missed. I leave her with - relaxing, with cats.
