Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly online community gathering on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Recuperating Kitty of the Week!

    Micio

Micio, after a rough stint with an infection, is taking his recovery lying down! ;)

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

"Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don't accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras, all cat fanciers welcome! Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Tales of their lives or adventures. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #947 / DPRv #139 / Sunday Cats! #39

    Thread Manager's Corner:
While Micio recuperates I think some of us are recuperating still from last week's sad event. I know I am. But it also made me aware that this is not just a place for sharing images but a community that feels for one another. That is remarkable. Thank you all.

    Leo (2014-2025)

We adopted our dear little Leo when he was just a couple of months old and we loved him dearly for eleven years. Leo had a huge personality and lived his life with gusto. He had the most beautiful green eyes, and he never lost his kitten cuteness. Unfortunately, his life was cut short by osteosarcoma. His back right leg was amputated in May 2025. We were devastated, but hopeful that the cancer had been stopped. Six months later x-rays revealed that it had returned and spread to his lungs. We had to say goodbye on November 24. Leo was truly loved and his passing has left a huge hole in our hearts. Life will never be the same without him.

    Robert,

    I'm sorry about Leo.

I know what a hole that leaves.

I'm so sorry to learn of Leo's passing. It was always a pleasure to have him visit these pages and previously the pages at DPReview. It's especially sad to learn of his battle with cancer and that despite the efforts taken to keep him from being taken away from you, it could not be prevented. And of course it is not the time of year when one wants to be faced with deep sadness. Thank you for coming here to memorialize your loss. Leo is always welcome to live on here in images, as well as his buddies Jasper and Max. We can enjoy his beautiful green eyes together.

Although it does look like the cat has the dog cowed. ;) And the passersby seem to have no concern about either. From the station sign it appears that we are in Istanbul? That's one of the pleasures of viewing these images. We get to go to places we would probably never have the chance to visit. :)

Appropriately named kitty. He challenges the camera to make out his features of black on black, but the gloss from the light reveals his form. Very nice.

Thank you, and I'm so sorry about Snowflake. They really take a big piece of our heart when they leave us.

Thank you for your lovely message. It is very comforting to me that you remembered our sweet Leo, as well as Jasper and Max. You are so right that this is an awful time of year to be faced with such a loss. We were hoping Leo would be with us for one more Christmas, but that was not to be.

Jasper and Max are thankfully well, although Jasper is obviously grieving the loss of his best buddy. They were almost always together.

Speaking of joy and sorrow I have to include this photo of Amos and Bobo taken a
a few years ago. Seeing these two characters together brings the joy of seeing them
together playing, visiting neighbors, sleeping together, and just being. They bonded
after bringing in Bobo from a shelter very soon after he arrived. Amos just took to him
like a long lost brother. Sorrow, yes. They are no longer here but they each enjoyed life
to the fullest while we enjoyed them as well.

    Hi,

Cali and Doris are slowly getting along. They can now share the bed. Not snuggled yet, but it is getting better. :)

The next edition of Sunday Cat! will be very late. It should still be Sunday in my timezone, but probably not in anyone else's. See you then!

    Hi,

I would have but their play wasn't photographical. We have cat flaps in two doors. One leads from the house into what was a 2-car garage (converted into a workshop). The other leads from there to outside.

Cali was on one side of a door at the flap. Doris on the other side. And they were flipping the flap at each other. They were making an odd noise with that flap, so I went to see what that was. And there was Doris flipping the flap. So I opened the door. And there sat Cali. But that action halted their fun.

I could have taken a shot of Doris as I was on her side of the door. But Cali couldn't be seen so that shot wouldn't have made sense. Cat At A Flap Door as it were. Not two cats playing with a flap.

But, it is a start. So maybe a shot which makes sense will present itself in the near future.
