Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly online community gathering on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Dreamy Kitty of the Week!

    Shadow

Shadow, with the look of sweet dreams as he perhaps envisions what special kitty toys or treats might be coming his way later this week! ;)

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

"Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule, which was the case this week. And as promised in my warning message about the delay, it is pretty much no longer Sunday anywhere but in my time zone. :) Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don't accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras, all cat fanciers welcome! Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Tales of their lives or adventures. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    In Memoriam, Leo

    Leo

Despite heroic efforts to save his life, Leo could not win his battle with cancer and closed his beautiful green eyes for the last time on November 24. However, his life as shared in images can help him live on beyond his years.

    Thread Manager's Corner:
Like Leo, Mr. Me is also battling cancer, although so far the cancer does not appear to have spread. Unfortunately, the treatments have rocked Mr. Me terribly, and in the last few days he was so far down that I thought I was close to losing him. An act of desperation on my part got him eating again and he is doing somewhat better now but is not back to his normal self. His unwellness delayed a trip I needed to make until Saturday, thus delaying this week's post. I'm hoping the days ahead will be better ones for him (and me too).

Though small in size, the imprint they leave on our lives is huge.

Cali looks a bit surprised to be caught in the act of enjoying her lazy indoor life! Nice to see the teamwork between Doris and Sammy. Jack looks a little like, "once you go away I'm reachin' for this box to see what's in it!"

    Getting Better

After a big dose of antibiotics and a ton of other meds, Micio seems to be getting better now. He is really good. He has been brutally spoon fed with lots of different pills and did not bite or scratch me. Our last cat, Susu would have rebelled forcefully. He has had to have a change of diet. Our stock of Friskies went to a cat shelter, and he is eating special food now for a while. The only concession is his Parties, which is some sort of drug for cats. He expects some when he is tired of his Urinary food.

Good for Micio that he seems to be getting better. His nose buried in his tail reminds me of how Mr. Me seems to curl up in a little ball like that waiting to feel better. They don't understand why sometimes we have to abuse them with pills, but maybe they grasp something about it as they begin to feel less ill.

For a long time I was able to give Mr. Me his pills in Pill Pockets, but he finally got so tired of them that I have had to pill him directly. In the past I would always get bitten, but he seems to be weakening his resolve and I have been able to successfully pill him the last few days while retaining all five fingers of my hand. I do hope he gets his fight back though. Without that will to fight he is just not the same kitty that he was.

I hope Micio perks up so he can enjoy the holidays ahead, but unfortunately I guess he won't be getting any special kitty treats.
