Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly online community gathering on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

"Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don't accidentally double post.

Thread Manager's Corner:
Welcome to 2026! Let's hope that the year brings good things for our kitty friends and maybe even a few new visitors. ;) Mr. Me unfortunately did not start off the new year right, with a visit to an emergency, or rather, urgent care clinic today, thus delaying this post. Like Micio who has had some aliments of late, Mr. Me got a new medication and recommendation for a change of diet, although temporary. (The doctor recommended giving him soft food for now, not his usual dry.) The poor guy has a bad infection in both ears. Because he has FIV, gets medications that suppress immunity, and of course has chemo treatments for cancer, he doesn't have a lot left to fight off infections. At least the new antibiotic was given as a single injection that will last a couple of weeks. That way he won't have to deal with me forcing pills on him or grinding them up and hiding them in his wet food! Let's hope for a healthier year for everyone and good recoveries by kitties currently undergoing treatment. And now, let's see what the new week and year brings. :D

My grand-kitten Blue was orphaned along with his siblings and raised on a bottle. He's growing up, and shows signs of calming down from his initial fur-terrorist stage. He has learned to respect Skittles, the 19 year old dowager-queen cat who rules the house, and has made peace with Red, the golden retriever, though he still loves to fight that flashy tail Red dangles in front of him. He prefers the company of the younger of the two human boys who will play with him or nap with him as the spirit moves them.

That kitty hiding out in the background is such an elegant beast! I wonder what it is he or she is pondering above.

Such a handsome guy! It will be a pleasure to watch him grow. :) Good that he is learning his place in the hierarchy. I suppose being brought up there from so young gave him a head start on learning how to play nice with his elders and those bigger than him. I hope he brings much joy for years to come!
