    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly online community gathering on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Basking Kitty of the Week!

    Doris

    Doris, doing what kitties do best, basking in the glory of the sunlight! Perhaps the last for a while as a murderous winter storm closes in.

    Best wishes to all who may have to confront this weather in the coming week.

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

    "Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don't accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras, all cat fanciers welcome! Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Tales of their lives or adventures. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    In Memoriam, Minimus "More" Mee, aka Mr. Me, Mini-Me - 3 Oct 2015 to 19 Jan 2026

    E-M1-II-#P4120028-15-28-3.jpg

    Mr. Me in better days. He fought a fierce battle for 14 months, but it was one despite his toughness that he couldn't win.

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    It's amazing how one small creature like a cat can fill a home. When they're gone, you find out if you didn't know before. I haven't been completely catless like this since October 2000. My plan right now is in time to bring Eleanor here, but I need to try to earn her trust first before I do since she has been through a lot as well. For now, I will enjoy your photos, and look for images in my collection to post.

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they leave on our lives is huge.
    I'm so sorry that Mr. Me is no longer with us.
    It's such a shame because Mr. Me didn't live very long.
    Thank you. Knowing that his life was cut short, unlike nearly all of my previous kitties, really hurts. All the tests showed that he was otherwise healthy, but cancer is a demon and it won. When I reflect on it though, there was one time when I lost a kitty who was about 3 or 4. Actually he was Lynne's cat. He died from Feline Leukemia. It pretty much happened overnight. The vaccine for it became available the next year. So I guess there can be worse moments. We gave Mr. Me every chance we could.
    The marvelous kitties of Istanbul. One thing about the practice of having community cats, it allows you to enjoy them and their variety without having to have the sole responsibility of caring for them. They are such a pleasure to look at, especially with the level of detail here.
    Hi,
    Sir Jack, The Ridiculous. He is actually lazy playing with the ball in the track. He rolled over when he saw me with the cell phone.
    Now, looking at the floor, you would never know I cleaned that all up Monday morning. :P
    Hi,
    So a cold, windy, snow likely, day. And the cats?
    20260131_115109.jpg
    Yep. Three of four on the bed snoozing.
    And the fourth?
    20260131_115509.jpg
    Yep. Atop the tower.
    Of course the question is, is she waving at us, or committing an act of grooming? :)
    We appreciate that he likes to be photographed and is willing to give us his best side, or rather sides. ;)
    I like the little grooming session we can see in the first one with Jack and Doris. It appears that Cali remains a little standoffish. :)
    Yes, there's always a need for someone to be atop the cat tree in order to monitor for threats, or treats. ;)
    I'll be a little late posting today. I need to run out for an event which is at the same time. Later!
