Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly online community gathering on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday,e except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

"Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. Thread Manager's Corner:
Late again! I seem to always have something to do around the time I should be posting here. But sometimes that gives me a little extra time to think about last week's photos, especially when I've been so busy that I couldn't even check in on things until today. With a hectic last seven days, a relaxing scene of comity in front of the TV hit me about right. And is making me look forward to the week ahead. :D

Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.

I was photographing an object on the balcony and Micio arrived. The birds were more interesting than my activity.

And if you are a cat then surely there is nothing more important than you being in the middle of it all. :)

And then memory association kicked in. There used to be, back in the 1960s, a fake cat sold to sit on the parcel shelf of your car. The kicker is wires run thru the trunk to the brake / turn signal lights. The eyes of the fake cat were red light bulbs.

I haven't thought of that in forever.

I did a quick search and turned up this ad for one. Looks to me like it is from a JC Whitney catalog. Something else I haven't thought of in forever....

But that makes sense. JC Whitney was THE place to get your car accessories from. The Home Of All The Chrome!

Street dogs of Peru...

Interesting image, sad and hopeful at the same time. The dog seems to have lost all his fur, but there is someone who cares for him, enough to give him a sweater to wear. Any more to the story?

They were all pretty sad looking. Apparently they are owned/adopted by people but seemed pretty abandoned to me. Some had jackets on ... it gets pretty cold at that altitude.

Thanks. Unfortunately, animals elsewhere can't all be as fortunate as ours are.

I got so involved in the discussion over the survival of this website and this project, that it almost completely escaped me.

Today, May 8, Eleanor is seven. She is the only kitty for which I actually know the birthdate. All the others were made up.
