Right, for this method you need to have Synology photo installed. Simply navigate to the photo you want to share, open it, then click on the share icon in the top right corner. This opens up a sharing menu with all the preferences/permissions you want to set. Then click on the copy link icon, you can hit save down the bottom if you think you might use it again, then simply paste the address into your post.
    Like this andrewNASaccess.quickconnect.to/mo/sharing/EXFHyWlVi
You can select multiple photos, Synology photo will create an album with them all in it, and generate the link for you
Edit -if you do the multiple photo select, the share icon pops up down the bottom right corner, in red. With all the same options

    Thank you!
I have QuickConnect setup and a colleague is able to access via the Internet. He has read/write access to a directory of files I made available for him. It’s effective.
But next I’ll try the Photo app, so clients can view photos I’ve taken without a login.

What I would like to do is post a link in a forum and have it display a picture stored on my NAS. Much like Flickr etc.

Safest way is to attach a USB HD to your router and share from there. That way all the other personal stuff on your Synology is still behind the router.

If I were going to share locally hosted files on the 'net, I'd set up a demilitarized zone, or DMZ, for the file/web server behind my firewall, and keep outside incoming traffic restricted to the DMZ. But I prefer not to locally host such files at all.

I think you can get a bit carried away with trying to keep things secure. Look at internet banking. All that's protecting that is a username and password. Maybe I'm not seeing the big picture?

You don't use multifactor security for your banking? I'd not take that risk.

No I don't. Probably should. Although, I have used internet banking for the last 25 years at a guess, with zero issues. Always a first though.
What does amuse me no end though, is the number of failing female celebrities that get "hacked" And it's always, yes, every single time, that their nudie shots get "stolen" Strange coincidence that 🤣🤣🤣

I would change the bank if it allows access only with a username and password from any location.

Why? It's probably there in this day and age, I've just not bothered to go looking. My password is not written down anywhere, it would be easier for them to steal my identity and go that route.

At least you're consistent. If I felt the way you do about security, I probably wouldn't even use a firewall. I have insecure and secure WiFi networks so that guests don't use the secure one. I wouldn't do that, either, if I felt like you.

It is easy to steal the password as you type it.

If that were the case, wouldn't I have had some sort of issues by now, considering I've travelled and used internet banking in some pretty dodgey countries over the years? What am I missing here?

You are tempting fate. However, it’s your bank account.

    1. Set up DDNS (kb.synology.com/en-us/DSM/help/DSM/AdminCenter/connection_ddns?version=7).
    2. Set up a website with the NAS and host the file you want there (kb.synology.com/en-us/DSM/tutorial/How_to_host_a_website_on_Synology_NAS)
    3. Set up your internet router so that ingress HTTP traffic to certain port (say, to TCP/8080) is forwarded to the web server above
    4. voilà

I've been driving for a long time, and I haven't been killed in an auto accident yet. But I still buckle my seatbelt when I get in a car. Different people have different risk tolerance.

Absolutely. No argument from me. Some people refuse to ride motorcycles, ride bicycles, drive fast cars, drink beer, travel to off the beaten track destinations, dive into new relationships, try new cuisine, all those types of things that make life interesting and can bring some of life's greatest pleasure. Life is for living. Not just surviving

When I go on a racetrack with my car, I put my seatbelt and helmet on. I assume you do not.
Like in finance, it is all about risk management: you eliminate risks that do not bring any rewards.
