Anyone use this lens? I just got it. It's at an incredible price, and reviews say it's super sharp, but with slow autofocus. From initial impression, I can confirm both. I'm playing with the AF settings, and some settings work better than others. (Oddly, AF-S with center focus was really bad... But wide area with AF-C seems OK-ish? Will have to play with it more.)
I bought the samyang 24 mm 2,8 and its a great lens its tiny extremely light , fast focus as good as any of my other lens and its sharp. what camera are you using ? im using the sony a6300 and an a74 .
A6500. Most native Sony lenses are normally fast-focusing, so it's pretty easy to tell the difference with this one. I'm used to the old Sigma 30/f2.8 not being ideal, but this is seems worse. It's very lightweight, but large for what it is. The body seems much larger than what the optics need. Huge expanse of plastic on the front. Odd.
But snapping a few photos in dim light at f2.8, and it looks sharp. I can't imagine how sharp it'll be stopped down a bit! The bokeh is pretty smooth, no onion rings. It's a nice focal length for APS-C. I like everything about it except the stupid-slow AF. And actually, the AF is not bad in AF-C mode. I need to try that more. But then you hear it ticking as it adjusts focus. tick tick tick....But it seems to focus pretty quickly, so I think that's the answer there.
So far, this seems to me to be the budget lens to get, with the Samyang being better if you want something more compact. We need more compact, near-pancake lenses!
