If I want to reply without including the picture in the reply, I can just remove the code for the picture and leave the identifier and other comments.

I'll have to try it. It would help a lot if each reply was added in a different colour. Or maybe each alternating reply needs to select Italic or non italic themselves.
If you leave the identifier line of the thread you're replying to, it's possible to figure it out. Paring down the quoted part of the post makes it easier to void drowning in replies. Makes the thread cleaner. but it takes a certain persistence on the part of thread participants to keep it tidy.
All right, so this is a reply to the thread in general, using the top reply button.
We could ask users to use that button and only that one, to post their own new picture.
It would be useful if this reply button (to the thread, not to a single post) would have a different colour, or be called "reply to thread", and then the other reply button "reply to message"
