Seriously, they are on the list. We are about to migrate to a new fast server - so that's been the main thrust so far. They are both in the feature request list and will get done. But we have limited resources and he works for a living!!!
I think GB summed it up very well just above. And yes, if you come to the forum and click on an Olympus thread and then whine in dismay that the forum isn’t up to snuff because all it discusses is Olympus and you don’t use Olympus….then yes, your opinion is odd…very odd.
People will be people will be people. What did you expect? What will you find elsewhere? How hard will it be to just skip these fast-growing threads full of opinionated people and enjoy all the other threads centering on photography?
It seems to me that, of all those started since the promised demise of DPR, this site has the most members and the most activity. It follows that this (and a few other threads) are exceptions. So, by all means bitch about this thread and those who dominate it; but enjoy the rest!
I've been there since about 2002 while there was no moderation at all, only Phil Askey who deleted a bunch of posts if he got agitated. Members used to debate and solve problems on their own. Then Amazon took over and introduced moderators. The site went downhill fast after that.
I did participate in many different forums as well. Never found one as good as the un-moderated version of DPReview. YYMV.
You can you know what with your positive attitude and general happiness here. Noone asked you but you came anyways. 🤡
Can we have just one punching bag?
To be fair, Amazon is untouchable in this regard, and so first guilty person has it all. Risk of the business I guess. Too bad. When they see one hanging, they will take care and precautions.
Reminds me on"Bill burr's bit" on shotguns.
"You just turn and Whuuaaau! That's it.
Anything that was there, ain't there anymore. Trust me...
...And these people here saw what you did there, so you ain't gonna have problem here either." 😂
That is not a reasonable argument to defend, really. "This harmful equipment never hurt me, so why do you care about safety and broken safety by the manufacturer" type of claim. Cannot stand any scrutiny or benchmarking against reality.
I marvel about the way you support this forum and about the agreement with you on most of the topics, while you simultaneously can produce such a failure gem. It absolutely must be wrong worldview on my side. No assumptions though. All is good. Fingers crossed.
It was just my opinion based on what I saw on DPReview. And comparing it to safety equipment is an interesting idea. Could have some merit. But as I may have said before, we are not DPReview and we won't be doing it their way.
From what I have seen here, your posts are very measured and non-partisan - it might explain why you never got into trouble!
I am a member at DPreview since 2001. Never got banned - but had 1 thread deleted, 1 thread moved. These I knew about as the mods contacted me.
More disturbing was when I recently looked for one of my threads about lens testing methodologies and found to my dismay it had been locked. I didn't check whether any other threads had been locked, it seemed so unexpected I was a bit shocked.
I did watch other people's threads or posts disappearing or being locked - my opinion was that there wasn't enough justification for those actions.
I remember not seeing Bobn2 for a long while and later we learnt he had been banned.
Thom Hogan disappeared after his threads or posts got deleted - although later on realized that Thom was still around, and messaged people privately. If someone like Thom - who is also very measured in his posts - gets his posts removed, that tells you something about DPR.
I do remember that DPreview had no moderation for a long time, and it was fine. I suspect Amazon could not allow certain discussions or points of view due to corporate reasons and introduced moderation.
