If Mako had been moderating this thread, how many people would have been sandboxed?

Wow ... I got quite a shock checking in here and seeing about 450 replies to my post, being accustomed to a limit of 150 for so many years. I just want to add something that might already be mentioned somewhere in that pile of replies:

A significant problem with the way the process functions over there is that (apparently) punitive action cannot be applied per subforum; instead, it affects them all. Thus, if you draw the wrath of a single moderator with a single post, you find yourself sandboxed in every subforum, including ones where you are regarded as a perfectly behaved, valued, and respected member. Many moderators don't check their subforums all that often, so your posts in those can sit around literally for days before anyone sees them, destroying useful discourse. Also, sandboxing makes it impossible to send a PM to any member, including a moderator.

I once spent something like three months in that situation at DPReview, wondering when or if I'd ever be freed. Messages I sent to the DPReview admins themselves (those are allowed) went unanswered - basically a black hole. Surely that type of global isolation can't be considered appropriate. The admins can be blamed for setting things up that way, but moderators who recognize the far-reaching effects of their actions should exercise some restraint in the way things are judged and resulting 'sentences' are imposed.

BTW, it was also a surprise to see that a poll was added to my post here, after the fact. So many new things to get used to!

yup... it's all your fault. lol

If folks would behave themselves and not have a bowl of stupid for breakfast, everything would be fine.

Everyone is a guest here, and it’s not some mad-ass house party in North Vegas.
    Good manners cost nothing.

I see you are still being way over sensitive which is what you assumed others to be and you still aren't taking your own advice to others to harden up with a dose of cement.

You're even making up quotes. It looks like you've seen where your images have ended up :-D

You have only yourself to blame.

Ha ha ha. It appears that you're not bright enough to distinguish between fantasy and reality. Reality is that I've upset you, fantasy is going on and on with absolute garbage such as using my mum's iPad, finishing homework etc etc etc. Pure fantasy. Lol.

    Nope :-)

I was replying to your post with a made up quote attributed to me so you are the one clearly offended and continuing this discussion using false quotes, not me.

You haven't posted anything that proves any of my assumptions about you are not true.

As I said earlier, you made assumptions about other members but you seem to be struggling to cope with members then making assumptions about you.

Sh!t man, I'm starting to feel really sorry for you. In all seriousness. What sort of horrific life events have happened, that require such an elaborate, impenetrable alternate reality wall to be constructed around you? No matter what is written or done, it's completely and totally rejected in favour of your own little version of reality. And it's not just this thread, or just me that's noticed the trail of doubt and outright rejection for alternate viewpoints that seems to follow you around the site. Seriously, it doesn't hurt to talk to someone, get some help for whatever it is that's winding you up into knots, and lashing out at everyone.

You're proving my point I made earlier 😀

And you still haven't posted anything proving my assumptions about you are not true.

Unless you do, nothing changes for me 😄

Just having a quick look and it seems to be quantity over quality. Something wrong with this picture

    I have 722 ranked posts.

    How many do you have?

Simple little test. I'm about to head home, you tell me 3 grocery items to buy (not too exotic, items from your average, typical supermarket), I'll grab them, take a pickie of the receipt with todays date and time on it, and post it here. Then we'll see who's living in a fantasy world. You seem convinced that I've hijacked someone else's identity, stealing their pictures, what are the chances of me stealing a photo of their grocery receipt with the exact items you asked for? In the millions to one? Billions to one? Try me :)

You're still just proving my points made earlier 😂

Unless you post something that proves my assumptions about you are not true nothing is going to change 😀

Man - he hated me too! I think that Mako single-handedly killed half of the dpreview forums. All I did was point out the obvious technical mistakes in photos posted by this one guy who was constantly spruiking his photography courses in forum posts. He must've complained about me to our friend Mako and, after that, my posts kept getting pulled. Maybe I coulda been more polite about it, but they were legitimate comments about technical things like DoF and colour casts.

You're still just repeating yourself and my response is the same - I am not looking for a goldilocks forum.
