That's ridiculous because me ceasing to post in this thread is not going to stop the thread ๐Ÿคฃ

You took the escape characters out. I put them back in and fixed your post for you ๐Ÿ™‚ Your minus signs are now visible without the large size font size letters.

That is true but is not what I said.

    I said

So a member can give/have zero respect for another member without treating them with disrespect.

But then what is the threshold above which something said/done is disrespectful?

    The guidelines -

"You may not post or upload content which is liable to cause harm or
distress to other people, including personal abuse and offensive
discourse targeting a group or an individual based on inherent
characteristics (such as race, religion or gender) and that might
    threaten social peace."

are vague because I personally have a very high threshold before I would feel offended in public forums like this. People can say pretty much whatever they like to me and it doesn't matter because they have no idea who they are talking to in the real world.

No that is not true at all. I have made no accusation against Bob at all.

    I said -

which clearly states it is from my perspective or in my opinion if you prefer what I see as the two possibilities.

Clearly Bob voluntarily speaking up for Mako2011 as he has been is by far more likely but without seeing the conversations he has had with Mako (and I don't need/want to see them) I cannot say for sure.

If it doesn't for you then that's fine. I was speaking on behalf of myself and how I see it.

And a very long time ago imo ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh well, it's good to see we can agree on at least something ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ

What if DPReviews "closure" was just a ploy to let the undesirables eliminate themselves?

  • May 2, 2023, 12:44 a.m.

You said what I said was hearsay when I was reporting my direct experience. That suggests that I was making it up or something. Now if you further reported it, it would be hearsay.

That's not the guidelines, that's the Conditions of Service that the guidelines build on.

it's not you that's the test - it's the reasonable person - see my post above.

How does one determine who is the "undesirables"? A forum needs traffic. At this point this thread has 312 posts. A thread on Photobook Printing Service has 7. You did not reply there, but you replied here, with what I assume you thought was a smart ass answer.

Maybe to a forum the boisterous, full of life, take no prisoners, to hell with pissing off a mod or two type, puts more money in a forum owner's pocket than the fellow that tiptoes through life making no waves. Maybe that's the ones a forum can do without.

No point in mods if no one needs one.

I was replying to Bill Ferris' post at

    dprevived.com/t/does-dpreviews-mako2011-have-any-powers-on-this-site/2697/17/#post-28026

in which he referred to them as guidelines -

"Per the Member Guidelines Bob has shared..."

so we both described it wrong.

    But I'm a reasonable person as well, aren't I? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ™‚

Perhaps that's the brilliant part about it. You don't need to. They eliminate themselves.

I thought I recalled you posting about what Mako2011 said to you in your conversations. That would be hearsay.

If none of your posts contain anything about what Mako2011 said to you then yes you are correct, it is not hearsay, I was wrong and my apologies to you ๐Ÿ™

Only people who have been blocked somewhere are allowed to join. For every confirmed block they received, they are allowed to block someone else (time limited). If necessary, they can create an additional fake account in the name of a DPReview member just for blocking purposes. If multiple members want to block the same name, they have to enter a waitlist.
