As promised earlier, here is what I saw today: (Apologies that it is not macro photos, but see above!)
I took my usual Friday afternoon walk through the centre of Vienna today, to see whether I could come up with anything new about the area worth photographing.
Over Christmas and New Year we have been plagued by tourists. I wonder what they see in coming here for this weather -- it doesnt look like a good use of vacation time to me! With temperatures hovering around 1°C or 32°F, the weather-appropriate clothing is not very exciting.

Looking the other direction we can see here the Apple Store on the right and the Nespresso store on the left. Given the extremely high rentals in this part of Vienna, which I am sure Apple can afford, I reflect that selling coffe in little capsules must also be a lucrative business.

Surprisingly, the lights are still up, more than two weeks after Epiphany!

This is Stefansplatz, which will be completely closed off on Saturday for the consecration and enthronement of the new Archbishop of Vienna in the cathedral. All seats have been allocated to the high and mighty, mostly politicians.

Returning by a parallel street, I pass a shop that I never customize. When I went in to enquire about buying this camera I found the atmosphere rather snotty. Reluctantly, I was put down on the list to be notified when the camera was in stock. I never heard from them, though I read that a member of another forum was able to walk in and buy one on the spot a couple of weeks later. My custom went to the friendly store where I bought my Canon equipment.

Top of the line Porsches are not rare in this part of town!
