How do you make this coffee developer? And how do you determine development time? Trial and error?
Amazing how good the tonality is with a developer so basic.
It would be fun to try to make a caffenol developer from scratch. So far, I have only used DD-X, Ilfosol and Rodinal.
@Ulrik, It's just a mixture with Coffee, Washing Soda, Vitamin C and KBr (Potassium bromide)
I started with a recipe from the Caffenol cookbook & bible :www.caffenol.org/2012/11/27/the-caffenol-cookbook-bible/
And after some testing and trying I ended up with a recipe for a Caffenol-C-L recipe that works for me.
Being a bit lazy I like this C-L variant. 😉
Just poor the developer in the tank at about 22c and leave it for 50 minutes (stand developing) And this works for almost every film I use
(Kentmere, Ilford, Fuji and a few Rollei variants)
Some films don't like the Caffenol developer So I do have some Ilfosol 3 for those
@TheDavinator: Thanks as mentioned above, the Caffenol-C-L recipe is a nice developer for many films
Hm - interesting. Thanks Photobygms. I might delve into that - I think we have some KBr at work :)
