This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

    Subject: Rainy Northern California

Most of the time we travel to Northern California in the summer. But this time we decided to take a trip in the autumn in the month of October. I got to see a little rain, which was new for me in this area. I took all of these from the car as the passenger. If I could take the photos with the window open, I would. Otherwise I tried to pick places on the windshield (windscreen) that were clean (as much as possible).

Photo No. 1 - We are leaving Oregon. It was raining just a little.

Photo No. 11 - We passed by these beautifully colored trucks. Some day I'll have to see if I can stop there to take more photos of them closeup. They might be trucks that are used for distributing sand during snowstorms, but I'm not sure. I just read that this is called "Truck Village". Apparently, it's a good stop for tourists. Now I know next time that I'll definitely have to stop there for photos.

I went out for a walk on a sunny day last week. These three are what I consider as decent shots

This tree had fallen recently during the gales. I have posted it elsewhere, but have since done a bit more work on it to highlight the roots.
    Oops - XSCF0246 copy 2 (Superlarge).jpg

This tree, for me, shows Autumn at it's best. Most of the leaves have come off the tree (lying underneath) but it's still a lovely day.
    Autumn arives XSCF0233 copy (Superlarge).jpg

And a view of the fallen tree from the other side. I love the apparently random way the branches snake through each other.

@Digirame nice shots, who needs sun for good looking photos. 😉
The last two weeks we did and do have the same weather. It is drizzly autumn weather.....
But @AlanSh did see some sun, the lucky b* 😂😁😋
Do like those trees and the blue skies.

We did go out for a hike again at our local military proving ground and training area called M.O.T de Haar near the TT circuit in Assen.
This proving ground is still regularly used by the Dutch 11 Air Assault Brigade.
We used the proving ground to test some new additions to our gear.(yeah more new gear)
We have decided to go all in with the Canon RF mount.
The Canon Eos 6D mark II and the Eos 5D mark IV and a few lenses were used as trade-in for an Eos R8 and a R6-II and as a bonus the RF 100-400 and the light RF 15-30.
More trade-in options are still waiting to be used for perhaps the RF100-500L to replace my Sigma 60-600.
For now the weight in our backbacks has dropped a few kilos/pounds already.

The first few photos from the new additions, not the perfect weather, totally no sun and some very mild rain.

    Alan,

It does look like a lovely day you were having on your walk with all of that sunlight and the blue sky. That's too bad the tree was destroyed with the strong wind.

By looking at the full-sized images, I liked seeing all of the details and the deep depth of field. Did you take those photos with your new cell phone or one of your cameras?

    Photobygms,

Thanks for the comments about the rainy Northern California pictures. With what cameras (and cell phones) can do these days during dark weather conditions, it's nice to see them. So if we can, taking these under umbrellas or even in our car, can give us something more than sunny-beautiful-weather photos. 😀 I especially like seeing stormy clouds.

    Photobygms,

That's great to hear that GAS continues for you. 😀 So if I understood you correctly, two DSLR cameras and some EF mount lenses were traded for two Canon R-series cameras plus some RF mount lenses. I'm happy for you. 😀 I have my eye on the Canon R7 and R8. I'm looking for deals, so I can have more to fulfill the need for further gear acquisition too. 😀

I really liked that Canon RF 100-400mm lens I recently purchased. I hope you do too. I'll use it more with my next R-series camera. I have to buy a camera body with each lens I commonly use...just the way I do it. 😀 That RF 100-400mm lens is pretty compact. If it was used with a crop sensor R-series camera (like the R7 or R10), the field of view would be the same as what would be seen at 640mm FL on a full frame camera (if I said that correctly).

Speaking about R series cameras.... What I recently noticed with my Canon RP (my first full frame camera), is sometimes after resizing the image, that sharpening it once can be too much. That's standard on the software I use, which seems to be fine with crop sensor camera pictures.

I'm glad you kept the Canon R and RP too. I like that you have lots of toys...got to have them. 😀 Not only do you have them, but you use them constantly and I (we) appreciate seeing them from you each week.

Yes, it's nice to have these R-series cameras and RF lenses, so the weight is less...good luck with your next telephoto lens trade-in...hope it works out well for you.

    Photobygms,

I do like your rainy and cloudy day photos. The first one for me is spectacular with all of the autumn leaf colors. I suppose that you got to try out that new Canon RF 100-400mm lens. Being compact, it must be so much easier to take with you in your backpack. I expect as a result, we will see more rainy day pictures from you...that's great. 😀 I was thinking again about all your cameras and lenses.... You had mentioned previously that your wife uses them too. That's so nice you both do that together.

Where I live now in Oregon we are starting to get solid rain (other than few sun breaks). That's pretty much normal for us this time of year. Typically, it should be that way until late March.

    David,

Yes, I will take a look at them. With Israel being recently attacked, it reminds us of the violence that has happened to the Jewish people for long periods of time. It's so sad that people can't peacefully co-exist with each other. Wars and rumors of wars constantly are a part of us.

This was taken at the Holocaust Memorial in Portland, Oregon last May.

Thanks for the comments. It was a nice day, if somewhat cold.

It was my X-T5. The exif info shows you - I assume you can see it underneath each of the pictures. They are not the full size pictures - but large enough for a screen.

@Digirame it's G.A.S with declutter 😂 did have over 30 different EF/RF lenses, right now 21 left and still a few will have to go 😁
A few classics will stay, because the Eos 1V needs also some lenses 😉
I did get a very good deal with the trade-in and the new cameras, so the 15-30 and 100-400 became a bonus in the deal
