This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

    Subject: Mt. Shasta

Last year I also showed pictures of Mt. Shasta, from a moving car. I'd also like to show some again from our trip to Northern California. It's a prominent volcanic peak that is much taller than the surrounding mountains. It also happens to be close to the interstate highway too. There was a little wildfire smoke, so the mountain was not crystal clear, but OK enough to show some photos. Coming home a little over a week later although, the smoke intensified and there was cloud cover. So these taken at the beginning of the trip were much better. Most of them were taken through car glass too.

I had to edit this because picture no. 6 was a duplicate, from the way I post processed the images. I had to re-do this twice. Now it appears OK.

If I don't respond right away, it's because I'm taking a one-day trip on Monday (today). I'll be back later this evening. 😀

That's a nice set again @Digirame 👍I hope to see some mountains in a few weeks 😉
For now we still have to go hiking and bike touring in a flat country 😂
And again we did both thing again during the weekend.
The Saturday was a hiking day with nice weather for a change, sunny with some friendly clouds and 22c
    visited National Park Dwingelderveld again:

And the sunday was used for a bike tour, decided to do a round trip around a lake called Zuidlaardermeer.
we didn't see much of the lake, bike paths didn't go that close to the shore, except for one spot, A crossing with a small ferry for bikes😁

    Photobygms,

Thanks. I have more pictures taken in the mountains that I'll show later. I was busy today with another photo opportunity.

I would expect that when you travel to Switzerland that you'll have hundreds to thousands of beautiful photos. Of course, that means spending hours later on the computer sorting through them.

    Photobygms,

Your flatlands are wonderful. I'm sure it's enjoyable getting "lost" in all of that beauty. I love the blue sky with the clouds. The waterways look like a place to take a canoe or paddle board too.

@Digirame I hope to make a few photos in Switserland (digital and also analog)
Our Eos 6DII, 5DIV, R and RP will be taken and for analog our Eos 3 and 1V 👍
My holiday workflow is process them day by day what we want to show online, the remaining will be processed on a rainy or on a day when we relax in Grindelwald.
Analog will be developed back at home after our holiday.

Well the Netherlands does not have real mountains our highest point is a hill in the southern part called Vaalserberg and reaches 322m (mainland Netherlands without Caribbean islands that are a part of the Netherlands).
But we do have nice canals, rivers, lakes and the coastline if you like to be active on/in/near water 😁

We had a storm last night, which awakened all of us. I found this little creature had been hard at work while we slept. I find it amazing what one can photograph in hardly any light.

    Alan,

I find your photos of the aurora borealis interesting. I've never seen one in Oregon. However, a few weeks ago supposedly it could have been seen, but I did not get up at night to see it.

    David,

I've photographed a spider like that once on a spiderweb. It's interesting to see. It's amazing how fast the spider can recreate the web if it get damaged during a storm or for some other reason.

    Subject: Hike in the Mountains

A few weeks ago while on vacation, I went on a hike in the mountains on the California-Nevada border. It was a beautiful day with blue sky. There was smoke from wildfires behind me, but I avoided taking pictures of that. At the higher elevations it was nice.

@AlanSh, That are a some nice shots. We should have been able to see it also in the Netherlands. I've seen some shots from the Netherlands

@davidwien, high iso and a big opening (F1.7) does the trick so to say 😊

    @Digirame, I want to go for a hike 😎

    Photobygms,

Thanks. I'm glad I inspired you to want to go on a hike. It was more fun than I thought. The destination was a small waterfall. We were able to reach it, but the picture of the waterfall did not turn out that good because of the afternoon lighting. On the right side there were deep (almost black) shadows and on the left side there was bright sunshine on some leaves. The water for that waterfall came down the mountain as shown in the last picture. That is where you all can see the small trees in front that are bright green, showing that abundance of water.

Subject: Canon RP in Low Light

Yesterday I had fun taking pictures with the Canon RP in low light conditions. This was at an amusement park, where they had displays like this in the dark. Last time I was there I did not have this full frame camera (because I purchased it later). I was glad I brought it. I also had with me my Canon M50 Mark II cameras, but I did not use them. I also experimented with using Kastar batteries. For the first Kastar battery I was able to take 244 pictures. That included constantly reviewing (chimping) my pictures, which I normally do. Also I used live view a lot. 244 images at a time might have been slightly better than the Canon OEM batteries. One of my Canon batteries is old and I can get about 120 pictures each time. The other one which came with the camera is better...I get maybe about 200 pictures...but I'll have to test it. But it's hard to get a valid comparison as the conditions are not always exactly the same. But 244 photos for a Kastar battery was acceptable.

Anyway, here's one of those indoor low light pictures at ISO25600. I'll have to show the rest another time.

    Subject: Thunderstorms

When I was traveling through the mountains on vacation last month, I saw these massive clouds that I assume were thunderstorms. These were on the dry side of the mountain range, where typically the summer temperatures are much warmer at the desert floor. These were taken through the windshield (windscreen) while I was a passenger in a moving car. I was fascinated by the size of these clouds and wondered how much rain it would produce. And I thought about the hail too, that we used to see a lot when I lived in Colorado.

    Steve,

I like seeing the moon with the clouds. The lighting looks perfect on my monitor. The second image is best for me, because the moon is positioned in the right place for my tastes.

    Subject: Taco Bell

Do you have Taco Bell restaurant where you live? If you do, can you take a picture of it and share it with us? How does it look different than what I found the other day?

Here's it is, complete with wires or cables running along the street. 😀 From the sign we see they are hiring people, with a starting pay as much as $17.50 per hour (USD). What starting pay do these food service people make where you live? Inflation has been higher and the wages have been higher too.

    Photobygms,

I assumed those clouds dumped copious amounts of rain. I surely was glad that we were far from them.

I did read that Taco Bell was in the UK and Netherlands. I was hoping to see at least one Taco Bell outside the USA, with maybe some interesting things captured with the camera, showing some differences. I could not believe the starting wage offered on that sign, but it doesn't surprise me too much. Apparently inflation is cooling down, but I have my doubts. I'm just seeing much higher prices everywhere.
