This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

Subject: A Short Trip On A Rainy Day

Photo No. 1 - On a short trip last Friday on February 13th, I decided to take some photos from the moving car (as the passenger), even though it was raining. We never miss an opportunity to take pictures.

Photo No. 7 - Again, but this time I captured some white egrets on a grassy field. I had never seen anything like it. At this point, it was getting darker as the sun was setting on a cloudy afternoon. That's the reason for the high ISO. Of course, when traveling at high highway speeds, I need to set the shutter speed high also.

    Subject: Eurasian Wigeon

I was able to find another rare Eurasian Wigeon in both January and February of this year. It's common in Europe and Asia, but they are not commonly found in Oregon. So I was excited to find another one.

We did go out for a hike again, and we did see the sun again for a change, but still the temperature low due the easterly wind
Parked at Kamp Westerbork and hiked through and round the Hingsteveen area, and spotted a less common bird.
A juvenile white-tailed eagle. still far away in the sky but had to try to take a photo.

    Photobygms,

Thanks. We have had quite a few sunny days in January. So, that gave me the opportunity to find wildlife in sunshine. I'm glad you like the landscapes too, as we traveled in a car.

    Photobygms,

I like the pictures you took while hiking. So much of what I see looks so similar to what we have in Oregon with the trees and wooden boardwalks. I especially like the third picture, showing the people which helps dimension those trees too. That's a nice capture of the eagle.

Love this photo, but wish the top of the tree had been in the frame as well as seeing more of the frame left and right -- if the camera had been angled up a bit, framed wider, and then cropped something like 3:1.

I'm liking this photo a lot, too.

@davidwien and more to come I believe. Saw a weather alert for the east part in Austria😐

  • Feb. 20, 2026, 4:51 p.m.

Unfortunately, as is usually the case, the snow in the alert you saw completely missed the Donau basin as it moved southwards!.

Here are a couple of pictures from "downtown" at lunchtime. I like the hats that the snow provided to the statues:

    L1010324_b.jpg

And nearby there is a holly bush:

    L1010322_b.jpg

As you can see, we got about 6" (15cm) of snow. The roads had been cleared, so driving was eary. Walking in the city was also mostly easy. The worst bit was walking to the garage near home.

But, despite that, the snow was a welcome change from the miserable overcast weather we have had since mid-December.

Thanks GreatBustard. The pictures taken from the car through the side window are particularly difficult of the farmlands, when traveling about 50mph (80kph). So often I do not get time to think about making improvements. If enough people like them, then maybe next time I'll stop the car and take a few of them that way. Thanks for the comments.

Edit: I edited my statements above to note that the pictures were taken from a moving car. I often do that as a passenger when we are traveling. It can be very challenging, as something often gets in the way like a mailbox or post or vegetation etc. I took these with my Canon RF 100-400mm lens, so 100mm was as wide as I could get. Ideally I would like to get some day the Canon RF 24-240mm lens. That would be better for taking pictures from a moving car.

    David,

It's nice to see your photos with all the snow. We have not seen any snow this year in the valleys where I live in Oregon. It's been relatively warm.

    Subject: Farmland in September

After looking for about two days, I finally found another picture of the farmland as taken above. This time it was in September of last year on a clear day.

This was also taken from a moving car, but at a shorter focal length.
