This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

    Alan,

The statue almost looks like a real person. I like all of that blue sky.

    Subject: Casino Tent

While traveling in a car, I am able to take pictures of some interesting things. Here's a casino within a tent that I found in Northern California. I've never seen anything like it. I took this through the windshield (windscreen) of our car.

    Subject: State of Jefferson

I've taken pictures of this sign before. As we were traveling down the interstate I saw it again and took this quick snap through the car side window. The rain had abated a little by then. I thought that when we were on our trip home where we passed by it another time, that we should stop the car and take more pictures. So I did, which is what you all can see in the two subsequent pictures. I was able to read more about this sign on the internet; I hope you all can too.

It does look like a real person (like Digirame already wrote) With nice colors a nice shot @AlanSh
@Digirame, Looks more like a Circus tent (is that correct English?) 😁
I do like the mood in the first "State of Jefferson" picture.
The other two are also nice because the weather that seems to be better

    Photobygms,

    Thanks.

Yes, the casino looks like it's in a circus tent. I did not see a road going to it, but we were traveling so fast down the highway that it was hard to see.

Yes, I liked the mood in the first State of Jefferson photo too, with all the rainy clouds. I was really happy with taking that, while traveling at highway speeds. Taking these kinds of pictures test our reflexes and our ability to find and capture things quickly. But I had to stop for some tourist snaps too on the way back. 😀

And to go on about the weather I had some luck this weekend with the weather.
As mentioned before we are in transition from the Canon EF mount to RF mount gear, and with very good trade- in deals we were able to expand our RF lenses with the RF 100-500L and a RF 1.4x extender.
Took my "old" trusty old Eos R and the R6-II with the RF15-30, RF24-104L and the RF 100-500L +1.4x and went out for a short hike.
This time on my own the lady did stay at home because she didn't feel so well
I did love the Sigma 60-600 with the Eos 5D4 but the 100-500L and 1.4x extender did surprise me

First the Eos R with 24-105 and 15-30:

    Photobygms,

I really liked the first image when I looked at it at the largest size. Ah, the lonely bench...that reminds me to post one here on the Lonely Bench thread. I like the horse too. I see the great blue heron. They sometimes make a "squawk" when they take off, where I live. Oh, dear...the poor mouse or rat...looks like a meal for the hawk.

I understand transitioning to the R series. I'm doing that slowly too, but I'll be a lot slower at doing that. But I do not have near the lenses that you have or had.

That lonely bench was about to get wet 😂 it started to rain again, but I was luckily close to the trailhead/parking spot.
I think it's a little mouse that is lunch for that common kestrel.😉

    Photobygms,

I should also mention...I like the composition of that photo of the bench with the tree branches shown on the left and top side. I like the mood too, with the rainy clouds. I'm glad you are like me in that you don't let the weather stop you from taking pictures. Some of the best pictures can be found during inclement weather.

    Sunset 11/19/24.

This is actually a test. I shot this in RAW, downloaded it to my tablet in Camera Connect and Control, converted it to a jpg for web sharing purposes with a CR3 to jpg converter, which reduced the size from 11mb to 164kb, and edited it slightly in Snapseed.
    Shot at 1/40th, f/7.1, ISO320 on a T81 at 74mm spot metered.

    Photobygms,

It was interesting to me because everything is reversed. The horizon was all lit up and the sky is dark. Usually, it's the other way around.

    Steve,

I assume the signs in the sky are from airplane trails (contrails). It's a good thing they did not collide in the center.

    Steve,

In the spring, I look for the first fresh new leaves beneath the forest canopy. Then I look for a ray of light that falls on that new growth. Some interesting photos can be taken with the right combination of elements such as you show.
