This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

    Subject: Wood Ducks

I took these pictures of the Wood Ducks on two separate days in December of 2025. The first five photos are where I found a male that came close to me, that was fighting with other male ducks. The second five photos were where some female ducks came close, so I was able to get some good ones too.

Photo No. 1 - First we see the male Wood Ducks.

Finally some decent weather again. after a few weeks with snow, freezing rain and black ice we went out for a hike again.
Visited National Park Dwingelderveld and followed a trail we made with the knooppuntennetwerk (hiking nodes network)
Still a bit snow is available most of the snow is gone.

    Photobygms,

Thanks. Taking pictures of these Wood Ducks might look easy, with the way I present them here. But in reality, sometimes I see very few of them. When there's a bunch of them I often have to wait a long time for a few of them to come close. They can be very shy. If I stand there long enough, like an hour or so...they can get used to me and a few will let me get a few good photos of them. I also have to have adequate light which is often hard during the winter with the long shadows of the trees that surround this pond.

Most of the time, I see these Wood Ducks in the autumn and winter. In the spring and summer they are gone from this location, with some rare exceptions.

    Photobygms,

I enjoy each time seeing your scenic photos that you take on your hikes. I did also take a few hikes myself last month, being inspired by your photography. My hikes are very short, although. But I do enjoy taking pictures in our forests too. I'll show some of them next week, as I pick through these photos each time that I think might be interesting.
