This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

    Subject: The Big Bounce House

Last month, I went to an event in Portland, Oregon where the biggest bounce house in the world was here for everyone to enjoy. At first we had cloudy weather. Later the sun came out and the colors were so wonderful. I hope you like seeing something different from me each time. This was the first time I had been to an event like this.

We had a very nice autumn day on the Saturday. a sunny day and a decent temperature perfect for a hike.
Went to the Lunsveen area and followed a trail we created with the use of the wandelknooppuntennetwerk Drenthe

    Photobygms,

That's another nice set of pictures during an autumn day. It reminds me a lot of what we find around here in Oregon. We had some rain yesterday, but today it's nice & sunny.

    Subject: Enchanted Forest Miner's Cave

Also last month I got a chance to go to the Enchanted Forest amusement park near Salem, Oregon. One of my favorite things to photograph is what I can find in the miner's cave.

    Photobygms,

Thanks. It was so dark in the cave that my eyes could not see the colors that bright. Those colors are what both cameras produced. I did not alter the colors during post processing.

    David,

Thanks. I took these from two cameras, so I could see if there were any differences plus I had different lenses on them. So that's why there were so many photos. I was a little surprised how well the Canon M50 Mark II images looked (since it is a crop sensor camera). Next time, I'll see if I can take these at even slower shutter speeds hand-held to keep the ISO levels lower. It's very challenging taking images in near-dark conditions without a tripod.

    Photobygms,

Wow...a 15km hike...that's impressive. I went on a hike two days ago. but it was maybe only 1km. 😀 I was also taking pictures of the autumn colors. You have so much countryside to explore. I like the cow with the big horns.

That's nice you had good weather. Yesterday, we started the rainy season with a big storm. It's still raining now.

    Digi, Photobygms,

I took my R6 (Mk.I) out today after a long time of not using it. I have always found the menu structure a challenge, so I was glad not to need this today. I posted four photos at the end of the “My town…” thread. The last two are just cropped, not resized. Even though the sensor resolution of the Leica is 60MPx I dont think I could have done as well with it, as it is 24 mm. I notice that the resolution of the top of the last photo at max. magnification Is not as good as I am used to with the Leica, but the only way of improving it would have been to take the EF300 mm lens (and perhaps also the RP, which is 26MP). The big disadvantage, however, for me is the weight of the ensemble, which makes it tedious to lug around! I do like the RF24-240 mm.

The good news is that I hardly had to do anything in post!

Please take a look and see what you think.

    Best,

    David

    David,

It took me a very long time to load the non-resized photos. I could only do it once. It must be my internet service is not that good.

Taking pictures at the long end of a zoom lens can be challenging (like 240mm FL). I try to avoid distracting elements, which may be blurry items in front or behind the main subject matter. You'll rarely see that in any of my photos (I make exceptions some of the time). It's my style of photography. Now other people do not mind that, so it's just an individual thing. I like everything in focus, unless it's something like water that doesn't look distracting. I'm waiting for the lily leaves to completely sink in the pond, so I can take pictures of the Wood Ducks without those distracting blurry lily leaves.

That's really neat that you are trying to do something different with your Canon mirrorless camera and Canon RF 24-240mm lens. I hope to see more photos from you.

Edit: I like that you did not have to hardly do anything in post! That's my goal each time I take photos, but there always does seem to be some lighting changes to make or straightening. But I love it when I spent the extra time while taking the picture so I did not have to straighten it later or when the exposure is just where it should be. The more I do that, the more I can continuously take and show photos each week.

    Digi,

Without levitating 40 ft into the air, avoiding the out of focus leaves in those photos would have been impossible! I could have waited until February, when they might not be in the way! 😁

@davidwien I do like the photos, I actually like that you got the leaves in that third one, gives it a bit more "depth"

    David,

Yes, it can be challenging and sometimes impossible. Once I used free software to remove some blurry branches around a bird that I took with my Tamron 150-600mm lens. That was kind of cool. But at least one person said they liked the blurry branches, if I remember correctly.

Edit: I showed both the original blurry branch pictures and the modified ones together, because the free software removed the EXIF data. Plus it was kind of neat to see both of them side by side.
