This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

    Subject: Vacation

Starting this Thursday, I'll be on a two week vacation (holiday), going south to California. Could one of you continue responding to anyone's photos on this thread while I'm gone? Also could one of you continue starting the new weekly threads? I could start the August 11th thread. Thanks. 😀

    Subject: Wildflowers

I was out looking for wildlife again in early July, just before the July 4th parade. I did not see much other than a robin in the shadows of some trees and a white egret. But I did see these wildflowers.

Photo No. 1 - Here's where I was walking around this pond. You can see the flowers in the foreground.

At least you did see and find something wild 😂
Little side note could be my screen settings but the colors do not pop that much compared to your previous photos.
They look a bit less saturated, still nice shots.
The last one (no 6) look a lot like the ones we had in our own backyard 😎

We had all kinds of weather this weekend, with rain, sun and both together at moments😜
But we did go out at the right moments:
What to do when the sun is shining and the temperature is a bit on the high side, you find a nice reserve with a lot of shade.
We visited the Emmerdennen resesrve for a nice trail.

The next day (sunday) we decided to go for another hike, the weather was still okay, the rain would arrive later
We had some luck again with the weather.
Visited National Park Dwingelderveld again and mixed a few trails together:

Thanks Photobygms. 😀 I took those pictures with two different cameras. I did not know if the colors for the purple flowers were slightly different because of white balance or if it was just something with the sun and maybe a few high clouds that changed things a little. But the colors look good to me on my monitor...again just a little different for the purple ones.

Oh, also thanks for taking care of the threads while I'm off on vacation, trying my best to goof off to avoid work and have fun. 😀

    Photobygms,

For the first set of photos, rain and sun together sometimes bring us rainbows. 😀 I enjoyed going on a hike with you, by viewing your pictures. I like seeing the purple lily flower. I have found white ones near where I live. That's a nice capture of the tree branches in the water with the reflection. I see that you used three different cameras. Yeah, I have a lot also...sometimes I don't know which ones I should bring with me on hikes. That's a good one of the small bird too.

    Photobygms,

For the second set of photos, the first two that stood out for me were the cow and the damselfly. I'm not patient enough to chase moths or butterflies; that's great looking too. The trails look nice. Seeing the last image, that makes me assume that you may have been riding your bicycle some of the time on these trails. That must be so enjoyable.

    @ArvoJ Thanks

@Digirame We didn't see the rainbow, well at least not while hiking 😀
I Mostly use both the Eos R6-II cameras and she likes the lighter Eos RP and R8 that makes the choice very easy.
It's more which lens or lenses to take with us on a hike😄
We still have to go on a bike tour at National Park Dwingelderveld, there are some nice bike paths to follow besides all the hikingtrails

    Subject: Walking in the Rain

On June 21st of this year, it was raining. It was our last hard rain before the dry season. I thought it would be a nice opportunity to take pictures of rose flowers in the rain. Unfortunately, most of the rose flowers did not look that good because previously we had some hot weather. There were too many brown spots on the rose petals. It would have been better if I could have taken them in early June when the rose flowers were fresh. But we don't always get rain at that time.

Also, some of the time I had the shutter speed too high in such dark conditions, giving me very high ISO levels. But these cameras are forgiving that way, allowing us to do that without compromising the images too much. I don't know why I did that, but I assume with all of the rain and holding the umbrella, I just did not check them as carefully. Sometimes we would get some wind, which would blow the umbrella (and me) around too.

Photo No. 1 - I liked this photo, except the bushes were soft in the foreground. I should have reduced the focal length so that everything was sharp. It gives a general view of the local rose garden in Portland, Oregon. But maybe you would have not noticed the soft bushes, if I did not mention it.

Photo No. 3 - I walked down the stairs. It was difficult to take pictures beneath a large umbrella. But it's something we have to do, if we want to capture life as it is, in less than ideal conditions.

Who needs sun for nice photos 😎
I often find the colors nicer looking when rain has fallen
