The Weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Starting 22 December 2025 Any Brand

This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

Alan, that's a beautiful red motorcycle. Those mountains around Grenoble in France look so steep. What a wonderful adventure that must have been.

Subject: December 6th Christmas Parade

As we approach Christmas, I have been able to see two Christmas parades at night. This was taken on December 6th. Being that it was so dark, I found the Canon R8 to do an amazing job of taking these kinds of pictures.

What makes these photos so difficult is we have to maintain a high enough shutter speed to eliminate the motion blur. Plus there are depth of field issues too. I like to keep the foreground and background reasonably sharp. I had taken these kinds of pictures at a night-time parade before like with cameras such as the Canon M50 Mark II, but these were the best.

Seeing your photos, makes us one with nature. I like the variety...two with closeups and resting showing us the scenes. I also like seeing the people in the second-to-last picture, which helps dimension the size of those trees. The trees are enormous.

Thanks for the comments about the Christmas parade pictures. It's one of the toughest types of photos that I have taken.

Last few days for 2025 and I have some time off. Decided to go out for a hike instead of hitting our own gym at home for some fitness.
I hoped to see some sun while hiking but the sun didn't show and wind form the East made it feel cold
Visited the Amerdiep area and followed a trail to the Westersche Veld reserve and back to Amen.

That's great you have some time off for the holiday season. That's so nice you were able to get out and take these pictures. It looks like a great place to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Maybe after Christmas I'll be able to get outdoors too. It looks like we may have some drier weather for a few days.

Subject: Rain, Clouds and Sunshine

Last month I took a picture from the car that I thought was pretty neat. After we had some rain the streets were wet. The sunshine then came to us all very bright and I got this.
