And now for something completely different.

I ive in a century's-old farmhouse. Back then, they didn't use foundations when they built houses. Right now, my kitchen floor is collapsing, so I'm having to put in a new kitchen floor.

This is what my kitchen floor looks like right now.

    Taken with a Samsung phone.

    Photobygms,

Thanks. I'm glad you liked the pictures of the state of Jefferson. Lots of cameras are just the way it is, I suppose. I like the mirrorless cameras for the size and portability and silent shutter and video, but I like the DSLR cameras for the optical viewfinder. Plus I carry extra as backups in case one gets a dust bunny or gets damaged, especially for something as important as a vacation. 😀

    Steve,

Wow...that looks like a lot of work to completely replace a kitchen floor. Are they going to put in a strip foundation (strip footing) or concrete slab, before adding in a new wood frame floor?

Various options are still in discussion.

But until then a few more from Grindelwald and the Jungfrau region.
Again a nice sunny day for a hike:

    Photobygms,

    That's some spectacular scenery.

What's that tiny building in photo# 2967? Is that an Observatory? That's perched in about as precarious position as I've ever seen.

    Photobygms,

Those scenes look great. That is neat that you were able to walk on all of that summer snow and ice. Are those glaciers? How high of an elevation was that? Was that about 4000 meters high? The photo with the sun with the rays is marvelous. I enjoyed seeing some kind of bovine too, which I assume is a domesticated variety.

@stevet1 the building with the sphere is the observatory the smaller building in the back used to an relay station for several different communications and television.

@Digirame Yeah it's actually the Aletsch glacier en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aletsch_Glacier
The viewing point at Jungfraujoch is about 3500 meters high and a few 4000 meter high peaks are available to climb 🤪
    The cows are probably en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_Swiss_cattle.

Yesterday, we took a train, followed a nice cool hikingtrail trough the woods along a river and again a train and hiked down to a different station and took a train back to Grindelwald.
Switzerland is a country with a well developed public transport system, perhaps one of the best in Europe/world.
We did go with a regional train, the Berneroberlandbahn to a station called zweiluetschinen
www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/arrival-at-station-car-parks/zweiluetschinen-railway-station/ Got out and followed a nice trail along a river up in to the valley. At a different station in Lauterbrunnen we took the local train to Kleine Scheidegg. From Kleine Scheidegg we hiked down to the Apliglen station and took again the train (third different line in one day) back to Grindelwald.

Sorry about that. 😀 I saw the trains and thought it was David. It was early too this morning. That's my excuse. 😀 I'll fix that.

I'm getting ready for another one day trip today. I was just getting ready to leave and thought I'd check on the thread one more time.

OK...maybe David would like to take a trip to Switzerland by train. That's a good idea (I think). 😀

Thanks. That fire smoke just made the background darker so the moon was highlighted better. It's rare to see such a combination. I hope we get more rain in the next few days to put out our wildfires.

And with high humidity and high temperatures (30+ c in the valleys) causing a less than perfect photo/picture day we decided yesterday to take a easy walk through the woods.
As mentioned before the train is an ideal option to get around in this region, took the BOB again to Interlaken (yeah 😜 literally translates to between lakes) a city between the two big lakes in this region, the Brienzersee on one side and the other side the Thunersee
Took a small Funicular to a local viewing point called Harderkulm and followed a small but nice trail from there through the woods.
