This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

That's a lot of nice pictures you shot during the air show and that single rose is also a nice one @Digirame
We did also had a few sunny moments this weekend, on Saturday the bike ride and on Sunday a little hike.
But we could see and notice that the weather would change again, more wind and clouds did show up.

    Photobygms,

Thanks for the comments about the air show and rose.

I'm glad you showed some of the clouds. I like to see them because they do have some interesting shapes especially with some blue sky. That's a nice mixture of photos you provided for us, from landscapes to wildlife. Ah, you got a frog. I hear them where I live, but they can be elusive to find and photograph. That's a super good photo of the dragonfly. I used to like to find blue damselflies. I took some really good ones with my Olympus gear. But a person has to be patient to get the very best ones. In the summer I would sit down and wait for them to get close.

    Subject: More Air Show Photos

Here's some more photos I took with the Canon 55-250mm lens last Saturday May 18th. When I'm at the air show, I don't always feel I have to get the close ones that I can take with the Tamron 150-600mm lens. Yes, it's nice when I can exceed 250mm FL for those special times, but I also like these too. Do you feel that way also?

Photo No. 1 - Here's some blue sky until the storm clouds came in.

    Lens Model - EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM

Photo No. 2 - Fortunately it did not rain too much. I did bring an umbrella when it did. I could not use the Tamron 150-600mm when I had to hold the umbrella, so using the Canon 55-250mm lens was best during those times.

    Photobygms,

Thanks. 😀 We did have some rain from those storm clouds. Surprisingly few people brought umbrellas as you can see. The day started out with sunshine until the dark clouds moved in. So people may have been caught unprepared.

Photo No. 1 - You can see the drops of rain falling down.

    Photobygms,

It's good to hear from you. Your cloudy landscapes are lovely. I especially like the horses with the green trees and grass.

I know what you mean about G.A.S. I don't have expensive gear, but I have plenty that I use. I wonder if I'll be tempted with another Black Friday special this autumn. That's when I bought the Canon RP refurbished. How do you like the pancake lens?

@Digirame, It's a nice small lens, haven't tried it thoroughly yet but so far it seems a nice addition for a lightweight bike tour kit 😎 (With our R or RP)
But instead of the Canon lens hood, I opted for the JJC lenshood LH-EW55II

The other day, I took this picture of the Wien Fluss (roughly translated as the Vienna Stream). This makes its way down from the hills that are to the west of Vienna and runs around the southern side of the city -- unfortunately, some of the time underground these days. This is what it looks like when there have not been any recent rain storms; but on occasion the stream is much stronger. (I will try to remember to go back there one day, after a storm!) At this point there is a series of steps in the riverbed, the last one taking it to the level of the Donau Canal, which it joins about 500 metres downstream. (The Donau Canal is a side arm of the River Danube that forms part of the boundary of the old city.)

Today I paused my bike ride around the Ringstrasse to take these photos from the Aspern Bridge, looking down the Donau Canal in the direction of the flow.

The builders' huts in this one are left over from the year long renovation of the roadways and sidewalks on the bridge, which is nearly finished. The Prater amusement park can be seen in the distance. The merger of the Wien Fluss can be seen on the right hand side.

Another view, which shows the same striking green building glimpsed at a distance in the first picture. I think it is the ministry of finance.

And here a full view of the Urania building, which has a small obvervatory built into it. One can also see the ramp that leads up from the river bank, which I sometimes ride up. It curves around the building, reaching street level and presenting quite a challenge, even in low gear -- at least, for me!

Some nice pictures of Wien again David. Do like those not typical tourist like photos we normally would see online 😉

    Photobygms,

You are making good use of the RF28mm, and it is lighter also!

When the 28mm came out and had enthusiastic reviews, I felt on the one hand that with its small size it would be a nice addition; but on the other hand that the RF16mm and the RF24-240mm, plus EF17-40mm, which I already had, were enough. I have always liked wide angle lenses, and love the RF16. So, when I later „sold the farm“ to get the Leica Q3, which is c.28mm, I decided to „save“ on not buying the RF28. But I might change my mind one day!

    David,

Thanks for showing us the riverways around your city. I liked reading the narratives you provided, to give us additional information about what was photographed. Ah, you have all of that blue sky. 😀 We may get less clouds later this week. I hope to see blue sky too. 😀

    Subject: Clouds And Rain

Yesterday and today I was just messing with my camera. As a passenger in the car, I found more clouds and rain.

Photo No. 1 - Here's some clouds as seen from the car yesterday, during the middle of the day.

    ExposureTime - 1/1000 seconds
    FNumber - 9
    ISOSpeedRatings - 200
    ExposureBiasValue - 0.33
    FocalLength - 35 mm
    Lens Model - EF-M15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM

Photo No. 2 - OK, at about 9:00 pm the same day when it was almost completely dark, I took this one with the aperture wide open.
    ResizedCloudsDPR2.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS M50m2
    ExposureTime - 1/100 seconds
    FNumber - 5.60

    ExposureBiasValue - -0.33
    FocalLength - 36 mm
    Lens Model - EF-M15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM

Photo No. 3 - Being still dark, I also had to keep the shutter speed high enough since I was in a moving car. As a result the ISO level was high.

I tool this photo at the lookout point at Eden on the New South Wales coast, Australia, overlooking Twofold Bay. Eden, permanent population ~3000 (swells to ~6000 during summer), is a fishing town/village. This is one of the many fishing boats based at Eden returning near sunset from a typical 2-3 days at sea, fishing. The catch is off-loaded immediately with some going to the seafood shop at the wharf where the public can buy as fresh as you can get seafood with the rest being trucked off to the Sydney markets.

    Dan,

The water looks so calm in the bay, almost like it was a large freshwater lake. I checked and see it's actually the Pacific Ocean. That looks like a lovely area. I'm sure there was must be many photo opportunities.

Twofold Bay opens out into the Pacific Ocean and so the seas can be heavy in bad weather but the port at Eden is fairly well sheltered from heavy seas.

Eden is one of the safe haven ports damaged yachts competing in the Sydney - Hobart yacht race, starting each Boxing Day, go to if they need to retire from the race.
