This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

Subject: Some Ducks and a Goose

A few weeks ago, I went back to a park to find some more ducks. It is here that I have seen a Hooded Merganser. What I try to do at these parks is to see if I can find the more rare birds that are mixed in with the common Mallard ducks. I include one of a Canada goose because I liked the background I got with it. These were taken on a cloudy day. The American Wigeon are not that scarce that I show, but it is at this park that I have seen a rare Eurasian Wigeon that I'll show another time.

Photo No. 1 - We first see a female Bufflehead. I did not see a male Bufflehead which looks distinctly different.

    Subject: The Park

I realized that I did not have many other photos of the park where I took the pictures of the ducks and the goose (as shown above). So I found some images that I took on two different days that I'll share. I often like to show at least one photo of where I take these pictures of wildlife. I think it makes it more interesting and less mysterious. Hopefully, also it will give some of you ideas of what you may like to do, with capturing photos of wildlife with a telephoto lens.

Photo No. 1 - This is one of the ponds at this park. I think I was practicing the focus bracketing and stacking with this one.

Photo No. 5 - At the park, some people feed the ducks. This makes it easier for us photographers to get close to the wildlife. Most people now do not feed them bread, but rather bird seed. I've seen this bird seed sold in stores in a very large bags.

Nice set with those winged friends 😂 and also nice to see where you did "find" them Digirame.
Haven't seen ducks and geese during the weekend, did hear them though 😉
I'll post a few photos later today, didn't shoot much this weekend, we've been busy in our backyard

    Photobygms,

Thanks. I'll try to remember to bring one of my cameras with the wide/normal lens next time, so I document the area of where I take the photos of these birds. I heard about this park from another photographer.

As I mentioned, we did some work in our backyard
Felling some cypress/conifer trees because they grew a bit to high and blocked the sun where we don't want it to block the sun.
We will be replacing those trees with an raised bloom bed with and a smaller shrub.
And because all of that gardening we both were tired and do have some muscle aches.😖
So no long hikes with a lot of gear but a short hike/stroll on the Sunday with only one camera and lens
Visited the Lemferdinge Estate (near Groningen Airport Eelde) an area with a small forest and used for weddings
and a nice location for a hike or even a bike ride.

    Photobygms,

I enjoyed another week of seeing your nature photos. That's interesting seeing the heron and another bird next to each other. Often I've seen the herons and white egrets fight with each other. The heron always win. I also remember seeing an older heron fight with a younger heron. It did not want it fishing in the same spot, so it seemed. It grabbed the younger heron by the neck. It could of killed it, but held it in that grip around the neck just long enough to let it know that it could have killed it and it was not wanted in the same area. Then it let it go and the younger heron walked slowly away, where it looked devastated to have been treated so badly that way. Do you see the heron fighting where you live also?

That's a pretty bird you found in the forest. I like seeing the horses too. What kind of horses are they?

I hope you recover quickly after working in your backyard. In the UK, I think they call front yards or backyards, gardens.

The heron and the white stork both were just ignoring each other, actually this stork was not alone, her/his partner was flying nearby.
The other ones are the woodpecker and the other one is a Eurasian jay.
The horses are a smaller breed, I think Shetland ponies.

We do have a reasonably large garden at the back, with a few apple and pear trees, a greenhouse, a barn/shed, parking lot for two cars and more
that's why we call it a backyard 😁 At the front we do have a smaller garden converted to another parking lot

    Subject: Female Red-winged Blackbird

Yesterday under dark cloudy skies I photographed a female Red-winged Blackbird. I used the free use of some software to remove the distracting elements (blurry branches). But in the process the EXIF data was removed, so I'll supply it as follows. How do you like the photos?

Is there any photo software available that will remove distracting elements for free or without a subscription?

    David,

Thanks. That is Commonwealth Lake, which is just west of Portland, Oregon. There's a lot of wildlife there. I saw a bald eagle on top of a very large tree and some cormorants that were far away. It's one of those places that sometimes we can get close to ducks. Once I saw a pair of Wood Ducks there also on the grass.

For example, here's an American Coot. I was able to get a close picture of it, with only using my "short" telephoto lens. It was not cropped (or if it was, it was only slightly cropped for composition).
