This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

    Subject: Last Tulip Flower

This was my last tulip flower photo for the season. I saw it had not died yet on April 22nd, so I quickly took another picture. It was focus bracketed and stacked.

That one definitely looks better than the ones still in our backyard 👍

    Edit: the tulip 😁

The heron seems very focused, perhaps it was a bit hungry😄

And while we still have nice weather we decided to go visited a different area during the weekend,
Visited the Veluwe and the Deelerwoud area to be more precise.
A nice hike with summer like temperatures and many gilders that were also enjoying the nice weather and good thermal conditions

    Photobygms,

Thanks. Although we no longer have tulip flowers until next year, I look forward to the rhododendron and rose flowers that I find in May. This year I get to focus bracket and stack them with the Canon R8.

Sometime I get lucky to be able to get close and if the heron is hungry enough, it will ignore the photographer. Otherwise if it feels we are getting too close, it flies off with a "squawk".

    Photobygms,

For the first set of photos I was really impressed seeing the first one with the lonely tree. The second image, shows us how nice that area is, with its wide open spaces. I liked seeing the glider too; that's something different. We have gliders that fly from a small airport west of Portland, Oregon. I have yet to be able to take a photo of one nearly as nice as you have done. I'm glad to see the birds taken at 700mm focal length. That means you are carrying a heavy lens for long distances. The other scenes are nice as well.

    Photobygms,

For the second set of images, they give me the sense of early summer with beautiful weather. I liked seeing all of those white flowers in the first picture.

Happy Liberation Day!! I read it's today for you on May 5th, where the the people of the Netherlands were liberated from the Nazi occupation. Where I live we celebrate Cinco De Mayo (fifth of May) also with parties (fiestas) and good food. That was the day the Mexican army defeated the French troops during the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

Our little rododendron is almost there, first red is shown in the flower buds, but still they are not fully opened.
Deelerwoud is situated next to Deelen Air Base and the local glider club. The glider you see was just launched/winched so still climbing when it flew over

About the heavy lenses 😃the RF 100-500 with 1.4x teleconverter is a lightweight compared to the Sigma 60-600sport lens I used
The Sigma is about 2.7kg (95.3 oz) the Canon RF 100-500 is only 48.2 oz (1365g)

It is generally known as VE Day (Victory in Europe). Today is the 80th anniversary.

    Photobygms,

The Canon RF 100-400mm lens I have is about 691g with the hood (that I use). I do not have a converter. My Tamron 150-600mm lens weighs 1951g. So that gives me an idea of what you are carrying.

    David,

Thanks. I read that Victory Day in Europe is May 8th. In Russia, it is May 9th because of the time zones.

From what I read Liberation Day is three days before Victory Day in the Netherlands. Liberation Day (today) is the end of the Nazi occupation in the Netherlands and Victory Day is the end of war. Also the Netherlands observes a day of remembrance (for the dead and all victims of the war) on May 4th.

    Subject: Male Red-Winged Blackbird

There's a spot that I can find these blackbirds among the reeds. I look for opportunities like this to capture them.
