The Weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Starting 7 July 2025 Any Brand

This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

In mid-June I was out looking for wildlife.

Photo No. 4 - On the opposite side of this pond, you can see the swallow nesting boxes as small white dots. This lonely bench is good resting area for when I go on my hikes.

But it was fun getting out looking for wildlife. At this location, I've also seen rabbits, snakes and deer.

Those swallows are very quick birds and the ones we see don't sit down very often.
And you did have nice weather 😎

We wanted to go out for a hike but the weather forecast was not that great with some rain during the weekend😞
But we went our for a short hike again at the local military proving ground and training area M.O.T de Haar near the TT circuit in Assen.
This proving ground is still regularly used by the Dutch 11 Air Assault Brigade.
There are a few nice trails to follow so you can mix them and follow a different one

Thanks Photobygms. Yes, the swallow did not stay there very long. I look for them on branches on trees that are near the nesting boxes too (at another location). But it's rare that I can find them like that. If I move slowly, sometimes I can get close.

That's nice you were able to get outdoors between rainstorms. What type of rock formation is that? That's nice you were able to capture the bird on the post with the soft background. What type of bird is that, that you caught flying? Ah, yes...the power lines...we have them too that sometimes can make interesting photos. I like seeing all of that open space, with the dirt roadways. Looking at the tire tracks, do farm tractors use this road a lot? Or was that from tires of another vehicle or vehicles?

Don't know if those rocks are real ones or just made for the TT statue and all the wires are led light strips that will illuminate during the night
That small bird is a Eurasian skylark and the ones flying a White stork and in the background a crow or raven.
The tracks are both agricultural like tractors and military like Boxers,LGS Fenneks, Bushmasters and others.

Subject: 4th of July Parade Photos

Here's some more fourth of July parade photos (I showed one last week). Parades are an interesting place to take pictures, in that they test the photographer's ability to react quickly when things are moving fast. We want adequate shutter speeds and good composition. This time I showed a little of the parade spectators to make the viewer feel part of the whole activity too.

I resized over 300 photos. The fourteen I show here represent only a small amount. I could show more later. It was fun playing around with the Canon R8 with the Canon 24-105mm F4/7.1 lens. I wasn't sure if this combination would work for parade photos, but I thought it did well. Eventually, I did find a spot on the street where I could get more close-ups of the parade participants without people or things getting in the way.
