Nicely done. Amazing capture of the setting daylight as the light establishes a leading line from the background to the kissing the rock in the foreground. The angle of view gives a dominance to the rock. This is a common trick in large format using tilts. The two birds soaring out over the water is the icing on the cake.
The building is the central object and my eye started there, before looking around to find all the other details. The green lawn and the trees look very lush, the reflection in the lake is cool. Il like the way you took care to include all the building in the reflection, and how those muliple vetrtical lines are well visible in the still water.
Must be good to sit up there on the balcony with a beer in hand at the end of the day, watching the lake as the light starts to fade
Nice minimalistic image. Clear fresh sea air with light sparkling on the water and dancing on the multiple small ripples. Colours that look believable and the gradient from blue at the top down to the red/brown looks good. I can almost hear the gentle waves rolling in one after the other.
Another nice shot from a Japanese garden I presume.
The little footbridge with its perfect reflection is a classic!
Dark red and green leaves always go very well together. I have similar coloured trees in my garden :-)
The composition here works well in the image,... with interesting elements in fore-, mid- and background.
I like the way the path leads you back to discvover even more elements and the scattering of people shows that it is a popular place to visit
Thanks Woodsider :-)
These were taken back in 2018 , amazing how time flies.
I've been digging into my archives quite a lot recently, with some renovations, around the house and garden, keeping me busy, and keeping me away from new photo trips at the moment, but that work is nearly all finished now,...
At that time in 2018, I also had the same worry, that Iceland would be overcrowded with no chance to get a decent photo without having to stand shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of other photographers and having bus loads of normal tourists get in the way of every shot. But it wasn't like that. We chose a route that went to some famous locations along the main ring road but also drove inland on the less frequented gravel roads. We avoided areas that were known to be crowded. Most of the time we were alone, and were actually pleased when we met other people.
Gullfoss is known to be crowded but I got my best shot there at midnight with not a single other person around.
Not sure how it has changed since then?
Maybe someone else here on DPRevived was in Iceland more recently and could let us know?
Thank you.
Gibbs Gardens have quite a few different gardens like Japanese garden, Rose garden, wild flower field etc. The part on the picture is called Waterlilies ponds, there are several. The bridge is a Monet bridge.
Yep, your tip that there is a person on that dune really does showcase the scale of the area. Coral pink coloured sand sounds interesting & looks good here.
I admit I've never heard of riding a boogie board down a sand dune, so found a video on you tube and it looks like fun.
But hurtling down a mountain at high speed close to the ground isn't really for me, and I'm sure if I were to try standing up on the board, it would result in an immediate crash with more sand in my face ;-)
I was actually there myself in 2018, but in February! I joined a group of fellow photographers doing the main highlights. While there were plenty of people there, we managed to find opportunities to avoid the worst. Snaefells peninsula was much quieter than the ring road. The main feature of the trip was the weather - spectacularly awful even by Iceland standards, interespersed with amazing sunshine. At one point we nearly lost the door of the minibus in the wind, while another day we had to spend an unscheduled night in a random hotel when the road was closed. However it made for a memorable trip!
