Yes, braketing the exposure and combining the results is a good way to increase the DR of the "system" and get details in both the highlights and shadows. Like the sky, moon and forest here.
Some HDR programs go much too far and fill all the shadow areas with light, so that you no longer get the "impression of light" in the image; the dark shadows are needed for that, they give shape and 3D structure to the objects.
Your gentle blending of 2 images didn't fall into that trap :-)
I'm not sure that the colours are "right".
You've made the yellows and greens nice and bright in the final image, as if they were in sunlight, but they were in shadow when the shots were made.
When in sunlight the yellows glow bright, have more contrast to other colours and have a warmer WB.
In shadow areas there's often a colder WB with like a layer of blue mixed in.
I think I can still see some of that blue in the final result here?

ICM is fun to play with; like the famous box of chocolates, you never really know what you're going to get ;-)
These look good. My favourite is the first. A gentle abstract, with pleasing colours and a sort of flow.

    Another good one.
Beautiful light on a beautiful beach.

    This was fun
Maybe this one was the origins of what we now call
    "Intentional Camera Movement"

...Swaying so much with all that country music that you can't hold the camera still ;-)

Very good... you definitely were "out" with your camera! Excellent picture. A beautiful animal - and the eyes are magical.

I like it! B&W fits the mood. I have not been "out to the coast" for a long time... need to visit again soon. You are "way down there" (southern OR?) for this one. Fun. The power of the ocean is amazing.

That's a great result! It is fun to be "out" shooting and then fun to do the processing, too.

Really a nice feel - the color/warmth and composition.

Here is my attempt to "get out" during the week and capture something with a "landscape" theme. The weather has been rainy and dark and I haven't wandered too far afield (a backyard shot) so my options have been somewhat limited. But always fun to get whatever you get! :-) Puget Sound East Passage (looking north).

Hi Richard, no its the Sigma 90mm f2.8 Contemporary I lens - a really fascinating range of lenses that work well with the A7CR - I've also got a 20mm f2 and 45mm f2.8

"...weather has been dark and rainy"
at least it looks like there's some hope of better weather on the horizon ;-)
The more close up pictures of the sail boats you just posted in the "This week through you eyes" thread seem to appeal to me more than this wide open view.
The boats are bigger with more detail, and yet there's still enough to see of the landscape

Thank-you, Sir... flor the constructive input. Your insight here is appreciated and I will take it to heart for future posts. I did indeed have some "second thoughts" in regard to some of the other sailboat pictures... as to how they may "fit" in the concept/context of "What is a Landscape photo?" (per your thread opening guidance). I opted for the more "traditional" definition in this instance. But since I am mainly confined to an urban area, my definition of "landscape" does indeed include some of the other sailboat images you mentioned (and similar stuff). Landscapes @ 400mm. LOL. :-) I will keep that in mind going forward -- while striving to capture a "landscape" element. :-) And yes... fortunately there was a break in the weather. Actually, a beautiful day for sailing!

There is a feeling, that a few people have that a landscape photo needs to be taken with a wide angle lens and get everything in.
That's not my view. The wide angle shots are fine, but they cover only a small part of all the possible landscape shots.
The "intimate landscape shot" is on the other side of the spectrum and covers just small details. That, and everything between is "allowed" and altogether they make for an interesting collection :-)

I had previously decided this one didn't quite fit the category. But I liked it and you've opened the door...

Not Autumn / Fall, these are just some dying leaves on a Eucalypt which are evergreen. Sorry about the lack of separation - I only had my long tele...
