    The Weekly Landscape Thread

This weekly thread, starting on a Friday, allows us to showcase our Landscape photos and get some feedback.
Opening up discussions, not only on content, style, composition & techniques, but also on the emotion in the image, and of course about the place itself.

    It’s easy to participate

Post an image or short essay with a title and description. To make it easier to view in the forum, all comments should include the original title and at least one of the original images as a quote.

    Thread Guidelines:

    1. This thread is for sharing and developing our Landscape photography skills.
    2. Entries can be a single image or a short photo essay (2 to 10 connected images that tell a story).
    3. Give your entry a clear title and perhaps also explain why you took it, or the story it tells.
    4. Provide constructive feedback on others’ images/essays.
Try to go beyond simple praise or dismissal and explain why you like it, or what caught your eye.
      ”Likes” are encouraged too.
    5. Negative feedback and suggestions are also OK (be polite, honest, and constructive).

Giving feedback is just as important as receiving feedback, both help to improve our artistic and technical skills.

    What is a Landscape photo?

This means different things for different people. For me, it includes a wide range of photos taken outside, … from wide sweeping vistas to smaller details found along the route. Seascapes, landscapes, cityscapes, woodland shots, landscapes at night with some stars, and lots more are all OK. They could also include man-made objects and people or animals outside, but they are not usually the main subject. Show us, with your photos, what Landscape Photography means to you.

    Motivation

I love to go hiking in the natural world and capture photos along the way. It keeps me fit (physically and mentally) and provides some beautiful memories. Processing those images when I return is fun too, it often helps to enhance what I saw.

    Downloading and reposting

It’s often challenging to verbalise comments about images. Instead, it’s sometimes easier to “show.” Unless the original poster specifically states otherwise (in each original post), participants are free to download, alter, and repost images in replies to express their analysis and critique. The reposted image may remain permanently or be removed after a short period. Downloaded and altered images shall not be used for any other purposes or uploaded elsewhere.

Enough said,… Go out, enjoy the open air, take some photos. Bring back the memories and post them here in the Weekly Landscape Thread 😊

...looking forward to seeing your images,

Back in the days of film I made a particular study of alpine flowers, so these two struck a chord with me.

Very unique looking arctic structures. Well captured
As you mentioned elsewhere with less salt in the Baltic Sea, compared to say the North Sea, there is more chance for it to freeze over. Giving these icy forms a chance to appear.

A wide open vast vista. Looks like it was a beautiful sunny day. Were you on horseback on that day?

In the starry sky shot I can clearly see the Milky Way. That's good for a SOOC shot. Looks like the seeing was good that night.

The beautiful blue in the sky and water of the 2nd shot is very relaxing. The shot has quite a calming effect on me.

I wish. We were coming back from a visit at Waterton NP - the Canadian portion of Glacier NP in the US. We had crossed back into the US this was the vista to my right. Had to stop.

That is beautiful. Like a breath of fresh air. I have been to Glacier Nat'l Park and the companion Canadian Park (Waterton) - is this view from that area?

The night sky is superb and amazing! Well done. I have a 20/1.8 that should be good for this purpose... and I have TRIED it... but didn't get anything worthwhile. Although I was shooting in an urban area!

This has been a fun winter series from you! And a very good picture here. The interesting thing is... my Windows login screen yesterday morning (whihc changes daily) had an image similar to some of your previous posts! But not nearly as good. :-)

Weekly contribution. These are from the other day as I needed to go outside and take a walk in order to shake things out of my head. The first picture is a backyard pano (probably "too much" but it is what it is). The Olympic Range is on the left. There is a ferry boat at the tip of North Vashon. Then another ferry boat as you move to the right. The tip of land is Alki Point. The cliff area on the right is Arroyo Heights and Arbor Heights. The second picture is on the "other side" of our street looking southeast toward Mt. Rainier. You can see an Alaska Airlines 737 on final approach to Sea-Tac. And the third picture is from today (container ship heading to the Port of Tacoma). Quite windy, some morning haze, and a lot of air to drill through (distance to the ship is approx. 2.3 miles; 3.7 km).

Thank you. I actually didn't even realize the milky way was there until I started reviewing images later in camera later in the evening. The Mono Lake area is a photography heaven for me.

    Thank you.
I bought the lens with night sky photography also in mind. Was pretty pleased with first go of it.
