    The Weekly Street Photography Thread

Welcome to the street photography weekly thread.
This week’s thread will start a bit early as I have a very busy day today.
We are hoping to get your images and hear what other members think about them.
It is open to all members of the forum; members can post a single image or a selection of images on a theme in a single post. Multiple posts are allowed.
What constitutes street photography has always been debatable. There are several opinions about it, and we do not want to restrict participants. You can post whatever you deem fits into the genre; however, please be prepared to hear criticism as well.

    Guidelines:
    1. We aim to increase the popularity of street photography and encourage our fellow photographers to be more interested in the genre.
    2. Give your photo a title and include any other information you think is relevant. I personally love to know why you made this photo, what attracted you to make it, and why you like it. But this is NOT MANDATORY.
    3. A single image or a theme-based group of images are allowed. No multiple posts, please.
    4. If you post an image, that means you are ready to hear feedback.
    5. We want to hear your thoughts about others’ posts.
    6. Please keep all posts civilised and polite.
    7. Unless specifically stated otherwise by the original poster, please do not modify the images.

Human-less street photography ! Perhaps it is more of an architectural try but !!!

Interesting geometric composition. It works fine like this, and would do it in black and white too…

Hey, Mickey, maybe that's not the best example for the kids 😆

Well, now seriously, everyone needs a break, and he does it in a secluded place...

Neat image. Not always easy to capture empty streets. Looked to see if you'd employed a deep ND filter. Nope, shutter speed is way too high.

Yes, there are plenty of shapes, lines, geometry that work well with BW too, but I love its colours more than shapes.

    Memories of Youth

I do not do street photography any more, but sometimes something catches my eye. This is a drastic crop of an iPhone shot I made in town. I posted the full set on its own thread. I guess that set was not any good, or too delicate a subject.

But for me I think street photography is about the human condition.

Street isn't really my thing but I've been giving it a go recently. Given where I live 'Beach' is maybe a more apt theme as much of the more interesting action is here, so here are a couple that I liked from a recent session. I'll post a few more more traditional street images in a separate post soon

Also in square format as I really cant decide which I prefer

Alternative crop… I hope that you don’t mind.

I personally prefer wide ones. Maybe if you had cropped differently (maybe removed some of the lower part of image), it would be different - currently sand (or whatever it is) gets too much attention.

Don't mind at all, I think these images can be cropped quite a few ways

It is a nice cityscape with wonderful colours; perhaps it could have been better if you placed the dome right in the middle of the gap without overlapping with the edge of the balcony.

I agree with you; when a frame contains more human (not in a quantitative sense), it becomes better.

I think they’re all nicely composed, minimalistic captures. They’re aesthetically very pleasing and I prefer the rectangular crop that @Greg did.

    Square crop for me 😀

I actually prefer the overlap -- it enhances the crowded feel of the old city.

I should introduce myself. I do not do photography, but I very much appreciate and enjoy viewing the art of those who do. I have been lurking here for a while, as I have been at several other threads both here and at DPReview. I do my best to not be obtrusive, but do occasionally comment on images that particularly strike me. Hope that's OK.

Welcome to the site Lynne. It is fine to be a viewer. Don't hold back on comments, that's what this place is for. Perhaps this is the beginning of your photography hobby.
    Thanks,

Hi, Lynne. Your comments are not obtrusive at all. Please keep posting your feedback. And who knows perhaps you will catch the bug and start making photos in the future.

Related to the photo and overlap, I think I have a bit of OCD that possibly reflects in my photos. But I appreciate the way you interpreted the scene.

Thanks for the reassurance. Some people get huffy about people who don't do something commenting on the work of those who do. I have tried photography a few times but just don't find it rewarding. Different strokes for different folks!
