    The Weekly Street Photography Thread

Welcome to the street photography weekly thread.

I’m sorry for my low participation and I want to thank everyone who supports the theme. I’m currently busy with work and other commitments and I’m experiencing a mental block that’s preventing me from producing anything meaningful at the moment.

We are hoping to get your images and hear what other members think about them.
It is open to all members of the forum; members can post a single image or a selection of images on a theme in a single post. Multiple posts are allowed.
What constitutes street photography has always been debatable. There are several opinions about it, and we do not want to restrict participants. You can post whatever you deem fits into the genre; however, please be prepared to hear criticism as well.

    Guidelines:
    1. We aim to increase the popularity of street photography and encourage our fellow photographers to be more interested in the genre.
    2. Give your photo a title and include any other information you think is relevant. I personally love to know why you made this photo, what attracted you to make it, and why you like it. But this is NOT MANDATORY.
    3. A single image or a theme-based group of images are allowed. No multiple posts, please.
    4. If you post an image, that means you are ready to hear feedback.
    5. We want to hear your thoughts about others’ posts.
    6. Please keep all posts civilised and polite.
    7. Unless specifically stated otherwise by the original poster, please do not modify the images.

    History Passing

    Kress.jpg

I don't like explaining my pictures but this one is difficult, I guess, as I have tried this picture in other forums with no comment and maybe no viewer... This is the Kress building built in 1931 in the Art Deco Style I was attracted to this picture by the juxtaposing of the modern street lamp and history. This was built in the 30's when my parents were young and I made my appearance. I also remember sitting at the counter of Kess in Chicago to get a malted milk or an ice cream Sunday on days during WW II when I had a quarter to splurge ... In the 60's that counter became infamous .. and now the era of Kress is gone... There is a similar picture in Wikipedia from a different angle, I just noticed ...

A fine building, with nice period features, and of course, memories. Sad to see it empty. I hope it gets repurposed without too much adulteration.

A very interesting scene, perfectly complemented by the presence of that solitary walker...

I’m curious what they were discussing , the price of milk or another world war?

Hi Kadir! I think they are in one of those awkward silences, waiting for a new topic of conversation to come up...

    With grandpa…

    IMG_2438.jpeg

In these times when both parents work (bills need to be paid), being able to count on grandparents is a blessing.

The silhouettes are lovely and I find them quite poignant.

I thank you all for your kind comments ... As to Kress building being repurposed -- I haven't been there for a while but think I remember that it became an ax throwing room and a coupled different bars and maybe one of the bars survived (all of these have opened since the closure in that block but can't actually remember if all were in this building.) I'll have to look next time I'm in town ...
