    The Weekly Street Photography Thread
Welcome to the street photography weekly thread. We start it on Fridays. We are hoping to get your images and hear what other members think about them.
It is open to all members of the forum; members can post a single image or a selection of images on a theme in a single post. Multiple posts are allowed.
What constitutes street photography has always been debatable. There are several opinions about it, and we do not want to restrict participants. You can post whatever you deem fits into the genre; however, please be prepared to hear criticism as well.

    Guidelines:
    1. We aim to increase the popularity of street photography and encourage our fellow photographers to be more interested in the genre.
    2. Give your photo a title and include any other information you think is relevant. I personally love to know why you made this photo, what attracted you to make it, and why you like it. But this is NOT MANDATORY.
    3. A single image or a theme-based group of images are allowed. No multiple posts, please.
    4. If you post an image, that means you are ready to hear feedback.
    5. We want to hear your thoughts about others’ posts.
    6. Please keep all posts civilised and polite.
    7. Unless specifically stated otherwise by the original poster, please do not modify the images.

    Princess

Another street/environmental portrait. The girl was very shy; I struggled to get a good composition.

    Princess Bob Dylan

(Following the Princess theme) Occasionally I may ask permission for a portrait, as I did here, after engaging this young man in a conversation about his cat. When I first spotted him he was frenziedly running down Decatur St in the French Quarter of New Orleans, and the cat was riding calmly as seen, unperturbed, unusual behavior for a cat. He told me he took up with this young cat he assumed to be male, and named it Bob Dylan, but after her first litter of kittens, he renamed her as Princess Bob Dylan, and she rides his shoulders or walks calmly on her lead.

I have shared this one before in another forum, and it created a great controversy about street photography in general. For me, street photography is about people, as they are, and everyone has a story deserving to be told.

I like that. My eye followed the path till I got to the people, even though they are in the middle of the image.

    Four legs v two wheels!

The main street through the old town of Briançon in the French Alps. I was just framing a view when these two came tearing up the street 😀

A very skilful composition, you caught the decisive moment.

A very nice, heartfelt moment. The way you composed your frame/crop is very good.

    Mountain Street Photography

...posted this already in another thread but it really belongs here, at least I think it might ?
It's a candid shot of two people sitting on a man made bench at the summit, 1262m above sea level.
So I guess it qualifies as street photography 😊
The man is just about to add their names to the summit's visitor-book.
Both are pretty tired, enjoying a private moment, after following the long path to the top,

I think this is a brilliant photo. She looks really exhausted and the moment that she is trying to seek refuge/help from her partner has been captured very delicately. The cross makes the scene confusing for me. My mind tries to make a meaningful connection, but I struggle to make one, but I still find it a significant part of the composition.

Many thanks, The cross marks this place as a mountain summit. Almost every summit in Austria is marked with a cross, similar to this one, known as a "Gipfelkreuz".
You also find them in other catholic countries in the Alps. There's often a visitor's book fixed to the cross with a pen in a protected box, where you can add your name if you make it to the top :-)

Thanks for the explanation, even though that was not what I meant. The scene reminds me of something. I think I know now what it is. The woman and man look like Mother Mary and one of Jesus's followers were holding and looking at his body after he was taken down from the cross.

It is quite a bit abstract-ish. It is hard to notice the silhouette though. The anime face is an interesting theme to start with, but I am afraid it does not work well for me.

He was a young man with some problems, some of which can be figured out from the photo but his cat trusted him absolutely, which I consider a character endorsement. I don't know that he was homeless but he was among a crowd of other young people some of whom seemed to be living on the street. This was adjacent to Jackson Square where there's a regular set of homeless folk who show up at dawn to spend their days there visiting with each other, panhandling a bit, looking for their favored substance, sleeping off the night before.

I love it. The running of the dogs. Along a set of leading lines. The way the shadow of the one in first place blends with the shadow of the building implies even more speed than is probably there. Great image.

I had a similar emotional reaction but could not pull all the pieces together (cross/figures/posture/hill) until you shared the other artwork.
