Perhaps she was looking at her reflection in the glass?
I see men dressed to impress. I see a woman adjusting her looks. The old old story.
There's a nice use of rectangles and rectangles within rectangles in the shot. It adds pleasing pattern to the story.
Full of madness and fun. These people are enjoying themselves and they are confident in the enjoyment. Look at the way they are striding out- no nerves about their costumes, their street or their interaction with each other. How more joyous can a colour get than that red?
It is those subtle little things that make street photography interesting. Probably she's using the glass storefront as a mirror to fix her hair but it does seem odd that she's doing while starting at a picture of a man's backside. I like the big HI just above her head like a speech balloon in a cartoon too.
I agree. Rain brings out colors, it brings out reflections, and it brings out umbrellas, that most photogenic of human accessories. Your couple in foreground have matching umbrellas, an interesting feature. The person on the bike has an interesting cargo, perhaps a baby but at least a pet, all zipped up for safekeeping . The color palette is unified around ivory and black. Visually pleasing.
I agree, with this photo the eye contact is a plus. I like the little quirk of the light looking like the button on his beanie. Well captured night mood.
Both are engaging photos. The first is a masterful slow shutter image that lets the moving celebrants blur just the right amount. The second is a photo or joy - infectious joy in celebrating tradition and culture. Well done!
Thanks. The Quarter is the oldest part of the city, as old as any city in the US, with much of its original architecture surviving and well cared for. New Orleans has a mix of Spanish and French elements combined into a single blended culture. Many buildings in the Quarter are mixed use, shops and small offices downstairs and flats above.
Love the expressions and the motion blur. The guys, from the little boys to the grandfathers and the policeman, all look bored while they ladies are having their fun.
Thank you. I liked that she was carrying popcorn in one hand and a sword in the other. There's always some sort of unanswered questions in street photography.
It is hard to sort out the people who are visiting and left their inhibitions at home from those who live there and feel free to be whoever they feel they want to be any day of the year, not waiting for holidays to celebrate. Street performers are hard to distinguish from those who suddenly feel the desire to dance or sing or disrobe. It is a unique place.
