You used the light and shadows very well here. I love arches, they bring so much to a photograph.

Nice shot! Did you use an HDF filter?

I’m a big fan of trains stations and platforms. I noticed you’d already answered the doctor’s question but I had the same question.

It’s beautiful! The light, colours, subject placement and motion blur all work together perfectly. Well done!

Going for a walk today I have sciatica and it's slowly going, I found myself behind this couple. They turned off and by the time I got there they were some way away this didn't look too bad so it took it. By the time I'd walked up to them a mother and child had joined them. I wanted ask their permission to use the pic and was going to ask them to pose for another one that that would show their faces but the moment was lost. She has a face and was full of interest in what I was doing, I'm thinking of doing a print and taking it round and asking if she would pose for some portraits, well you never know.

    James

Hello James, and thank you for sharing your photo. While asking for permission for a portrait can be intimidating it’s also incredibly rewarding.

Hola Kadir, thanks for the comments.
These arcades are a sure bet: they often feature strong leading lines, and the columns are bold architectural elements that make it easy to create patterns; they offer interior spaces with directional lighting and often serve as gathering spots where stories unfold...

I had a great walk around Manchester today with a friend I met on FB - I hope to get him over here sometime. Here's some images from that walk. Comments appreciated.

This just looked good. I liked the colours.

There's a Cupra car showroom in the middle of Manchester. It's got a coffee shop with Cupra colours.

We went into John Rylands library. It's a lovely building. There's a statue of the man at one end and I thought this looked good with him looking down on someone taking a picture.

There he was, on his mobile, sitting outside a phone box. It was just crying out to be taken.

The remnants left afterwards. Just a reminder of the society we live in.

I liked the contrast between old and new buildings.

They had just finished a game - if you study the board, you can see the checkmate.

I loved this picture. Why is she looking like that to Paddington?

I wonder what he is after? She doesn't look to happy about it.

Perhaps you should compose this differently. I think composing it on top of the first carriage could improve it, but that’s just a thought.

    ES060075-1_Superlarge.jpg

It is a good architectural take

    ES060080-1_Superlarge.jpg

You really caught the moment here

    ES060085-1_Superlarge.jpg

I wish you had a wider lens, it is still nicely seen.

    ES060088-1_Superlarge.jpg

It is a very strong capture, right moment captured, very good!

    Thank you for the comments

The carriages - it was hard to crop without leaving something in that I didn't want. But I will try something more in future.

The empty chairs - I had about 3 seconds before someone came and took the glass and cup away. I knew what I wanted, but had very little time to compose. Yes, I didn't like it that the right chair was cut off. But it's all a learning exercise.
