This month with your Nikon 1 - May 2023

Welcome to another monthly Nikon 1 photo-sharing thread!

Feel free to share your work either here or through individual threads on the forum, whatever you are more comfortable with.
The rules are simple:
- Add your contribution by clicking on the "Reply" button for the main thread
- Embed or link your Nikon 1 image, and add whatever you’d like to say about it.
- If you want criticism/critique (C&C) or technique feedback, say so. It’s generally assumed that you want general feedback, but direct requests make it clearer.

The title of the thread shouldn't discourage you from posting older pictures. Feel free to post anything that you found again in your archives or that you are currently working on.

Molly, from earlier today. V3, 32/1.2. ISO 200, 1/80th @ f/2. Fill flash from built in popup flash, required to pick up texture in black fur.

Waiting dog on the train - J5 with the 10-100 non-PD

Nice shot. Looks like a well behaved dog.

How is it "on the train"? There's something I don't really understand...
That said, the photo is nice, but...not very sharp. Looks slightly OOF to me. Yet, 1/60s should be enough, thanks to the VR, since the 10-100 non-PD is a very good lens. (I have one, and love it)

Strange - it looked reasonably sharp on the camera display, but not so much on a large screen indeed. Apparently the lens has front-focussed (the floor in front of the dog is sharper than further behind where the dog is). It was captured on a local train where the dog looked very interested at everything, almost like a re-incarnated photographer 😏

About half of the pictures were unusable - let's try another one (SOOC again):

Morning at Hong Kong Marketplace (shot with Nikon J5 + 18.5mm F1.8)

I'm a pixel-peeper myself, but didn't "peep" this time because I can't process my raw files at the moment (no monitor available). So I naively dared to post the SOOC JPEG without too close of an inspection. Oh well... I'll check again on a large monitor as soon as possible and run things through Capture One to improve the results.
