Lovely warm colour here and nice scene, almost like painting.

    3. The Fallen Tree

I found this fallen tree on my first visit to Great Knowley Woods several years ago and it's been a firm favourite to return to on a number of occasions. I haven't seen it for a number of years, so I'm glad to see it's still here and seemingly intact. However, on this occasion the light is poor, there's just diffuse light reflected from the surroundings, making it all quite flat. In this instance I've spiced it up a bit in C1P with localised adjustments to give a bit more depth to the image, but I think early to mid morning is probably a better time to be photographing this subject.

    DSC_4227.jpg

    This is my favourite here.

The first is very evocative, almost feel I'm intruding though.
The two figures in the second give it real impact.

    Petra

Petra is a poster child for over-tourism, but I am still glad I went. By this part of the trip, I had hooked up with my 87 year old mom, and I was a lot more concerned about making sure she stayed safe than taking photos. Mom was an absolute trooper throughout the trip.

The first and the ninth are amazing. The crowds can't spoil such an amazing setting too much.

    3 Swans and photographer

Some people shoot sunrise, I'm too lazy for this (sun rised 4:40 AM today...) so I shoot sunset, but even for this I'm too late, this photo is made 5 minutes after sunset:

It's a stunner but I think I would have cloned out the headless swan.

I have not had an opportunity to do much photography this week, as it has rained all week, disastrously so in Romagna.

I found another Terracotta group of life-size figures, this time near to home in Reggio. They are in a little church in the centre of town that only opens for Mass. So I crept in at the end of the service and had about five minutes to do some pictures. The group is made up from the remains of several groups, in fact John appears twice. The figures date from the fifteenth century and are probably by at least three of artists, including Mazzoni, one of the most famous terracotta artists. They were crudely repainted in the nineteenth century. The Christ figure comes from Tuscany and was added in the nineteen fifties.

The guy with the tools is fascinating. What is the significance of the tools in a religious scene.

All images taken with the Nikon Z7 + 24-70 f/2.8S and mostly involve the use of a CPL. Processed from single raw files with Capture One Pro 22/23 (I updated mid way through editing this set). The dark woodland shots are taken on a tripod, the rest were shot handheld and accompanied by me grumbling to myself about carrying the sodding tripod, particularly towards the end of the evening when it was starting to get a bit heavy in my hand.

You are more dedicated than I am to hike around with a 24-70mm f/2.8 and a tripod.

A couple of days on the Gower peninsula last week.

Evening high tide at Three Cliffs Bay

    P5108146-Pano.jpg

Rhossili bay. We had planned to walk across the tidal causway to Worms Head, but the wind was making conditions unpleasant so we gave up on that and just strolled around the clifftops.

    P5108154.jpg

A distant view of Worms Head with waves crashing right up the cliffs confirmed we had made the right decision!

    Intriguing little spot.

Those white branches make this an interesting shot. The monochrome color helps too.

The meandering river in the fist shot is fascinating, but my pick is the panoramic shot with those breakers coming in.
