Both great shots, but my vote goes to that night shot.

    I concur, almost medieval feel.

    3 Swans and photographer

Some people shoot sunrise, I'm too lazy for this (sun rised 4:40 AM today...) so I shoot sunset, but even for this I'm too late, this photo is made 5 minutes after sunset:
    P5100420_DxO.jpg

It's a stunner but I think I would have cloned out the headless swan.

That orange colour is prize winner.

I have not had an opportunity to do much photography this week, as it has rained all week, disastrously so in Romagna.

I found another Terracotta group of life-size figures, this time near to home in Reggio. They are in a little church in the centre of town that only opens for Mass. So I crept in at the end of the service and had about five minutes to do some pictures. The group is made up from the remains of several groups, in fact John appears twice. The figures date from the fifteenth century and are probably by at least three of artists, including Mazzoni, one of the most famous terracotta artists. They were crudely repainted in the nineteenth century. The Christ figure comes from Tuscany and was added in the nineteen fifties.

The facial expressions on these are just wonderful, especially the guy with the pliers - presumably for removing the nails through Christ's hands and feet?

    Petra

I guess it's somewhere every traveller has to go. I haven't made it yet, but |I'll make sure to check out Little Petra. You have made a good job of capturing the scene, crowds, camels and all.

    20230419_0368o_petra_Petra__Petra.jpg

    Little Petra

Afterwards, we went to Little Petra, which had relatively few people. It was more crowded that some of the sites I visited in Turkey, but nothing compared to the zoo that was Petra. I enjoyed Little Petra as much as big Petra.

Mom didn't do these stairs at Little Petra, but I did.

    Petra

Petra is a poster child for over-tourism, but I am still glad I went. By this part of the trip, I had hooked up with my 87 year old mom, and I was a lot more concerned about making sure she stayed safe than taking photos. Mom was an absolute trooper throughout the trip.

The Treasury. Even with the crowds, it was pretty amazing.

All great to see Marie. Someplace I am unlikely to get to so a real treat!

A distant view of Worms Head with waves crashing right up the cliffs confirmed we had made the right decision!

    Why I Go Fishing no27.jpg

Arrived at the lake very early, just at first light and was rewarded with this spectacular daybreak. Apart from a bit of tidying this is pretty much sooc. Ignore the exif, my GM5 doesn't retain the time every time I change the battery.

A lovely shot and a great thing to see early in the day.

Majestic views from a Schneiderberg hike
This is my second trip up to the summit of the Schneiderberg mountain by Grünau, Austria. We didn't make it to the top this time, but on the way up there are some majestic views. It was quite warm and one of the guys took three small bottles of beer for the three of us. Cheers!

All very nice and scenic. It must be wonderful to be able to still do hikes like those.

I like the clarity of the second shot. The first seems to have some muddled blues through the trees. I get that from time to time and have to adjust the processing used.
