Cliché but effective.

Rotonda di San Tomè

The Rotonda di San Tomè, near Bergamo, is a curious circular church that I have wanted to visit for some time, to add to my Romanesque project. It dates from the early twelfth century. It is one of the most significant examples of Romanesque architecture in Lombardy. It is one of three circular churches in Lombardy.

The inside is quite cramped, as an inner circle of columns, supports the "matroneo", a gallery where, during the early years of Christianity, the women were confined during the mass, whilst the men remained on the ground floor.

It was very difficult to photograph the interior as not even my 14mm lens was wide enough. I made use of a fisheye for the ceiling shots. The 24PC shots have lots of distortion too.

I think it's excellent and certainly avoids cliché because it's so effective.

How beautiful. This one really stands out for me.

Tomorrow we renew all the pictures at our Pilsbach Open-air-gallery!

This “big” event has become a yearly tradition here, almost like a village party. It’s planned to start at 3pm tomorrow afternoon with a welcome champagne, provided by the village Pub, for all that turn up. Then we’ll all walk around the easy 3.5km circular country route together, and talk about the pictures and the trips we made to get them.
The pub, at the start and end, is of course happy to serve drinks and meals to all the visitors throughout the year 😊
The 28 photos, printed big on aluminum composite panels, are completely weather and UV resistant. They look good for many years.

It’s a great way to present our work 😊 This year we have a third photographer with us, presenting some of his drone pictures of the village and other places.
“Entry” to the “Pilsbacher Freilichtgalerie , Austria ” is free and it's open all year round.

So, if anyone just happens to be in this area tomorrow; do come along :-)

Good work. It's a nice feeling to get one's work recognised in any arena and these are certainly deserving of such treatment.
