Wow, nicely balanced light. I thought it looked over exposed on the lower level, but a quick check and it is spot on.

Looks really professional. I'd love to visit Abu Dhabi but don't they treat women like 2nd class citizens?

    Rain!

After weeks of dry weather and rivers running perilously low, we finally had some typical scottish summer weather!

Wow, really like both of them!
Number 1: looks fresh and the water is full of the sunlight.
Number 2: Nice composition, I like the " Big Bob Ross tree added in at the end of the painting " :-)
The Shutter speed was just right to show the flow but retain the structure of the waterfall

    Pieve di Toano

I went back after several years and several cameras, to photograph the Pieve di Toano, in the mid Apennines above Reggio. It was once part of a long gone castle and it dates from the end of the 11th. century. It has some interesting column capitals including a dragon munching on some unfortunate sinner.

It was badly damaged during the Second Worlds war when the German occupiers burnt it down, during the brutal partisan war that took place in these mountains in 1944/45. Some of the capitals are discoloured due to the heat.

Did the soldiers who started the fire, know that they were vandalising a monument founded by Matilda di Canossa, a Germanic queen who is an important figure in German history?

Certainly not in the hotels. Although at the mosque my wife and daughters deliberately dressed in long skirts etc. but still had to borrow clothing to cover up even more when they got there. Not that they were too worried about that. Even I wore long trousers for the only time on that vacation. I think Abu Dhabi and Dubai are likely to be more aware of women's rights than say, Saudi. You should go, if only once. Dubai has more to do, more wow factor. Abu Dhabi is more chilled.

Yes, even down here in London we had some heavy downpours. What a relief.

The opening event of the "Pilsbach Freilichtgalerie 2023"
Last week I showed a few examples of my photos being displayed in our local open air gallery this year.
The opening day was fun. I'm happy that we've kept this going for the last 8 years, with a change of pictures every year!
The weather just right this time; not too hot , not too cold, and no rain. About 50 people turned up :-)
Here's a few of the crowd along the route

    DSC_8108 smaller.JPG

    Off to the next picture,...
The circular route is mainly along hardly used country roads

This year, the two of us invited a young photographer to join us and display a few of his drone photos.
Nice to get the the next generation involved !

Some of the visitors were obviously inspired enough to take a few of their own shots :-)

Nearly back to the pub. The tour took just under two hours, we earned ourselves a cool beer or two ;-)

Very clean images, a tripod and base iso are great for getting lots of light on the sensor!
    These are my favourites
Strange how dragons can sniff out the sinners :-)
