I'm sure this dog was on something, such manic eyes.

I was once bitten by one of those. Maybe they have a genetic manic streak!
The low level really works well.

    Back to the beeginning
No photographic trip this week for me, so just took the macro back in the garden to hunt for bees again.
I kept to the square crop, as recommended by Woodsider and concentrated on bold but still gentle colours.
Tried a few different focussing techniques this time and it seemed to work.

Not Bee 😉 Is it a hummingbird hawkmoth?
Looks like you've nailed taht technique in the first.

Our assignment this month for my camera club was telephoto landscapes...

I can't decide if the second is actually tilted or if it's just an illusion ... maybe a bit of both?
Lots of nice detail to explore in the first. Maybe the camera club judges will be looking for shots that use the shortening perspective of telephoto rather than just a distant view brought closer.

Good to see your bird shots again, especially the reedlings. Though I do find their pale eyes a bit disturbing somehow.

I am always amazed by the sheer time and effort it took to build these walls by hand. Incredible dedication!

It amazes me too. There are walls like this all over Scotland, Wales, England... hills all over Europe... Greece has tens of thousands of miles of them... Turkey... and beyond... americas ... asia... Millions upon millions of man hours. Awesome.

What do you mean by "shortening perspective of telephoto"?

    A telephoto lens gives the impression of making things that are in fact some distance apart seem closer together - the view seems compressed or flattened. Think of multiple ranges of hills one in front of the other. In fact they may be miles apart, but a telephoto shot will make them appear like layers of cut out paper one on top of another. This discussion explains better than I can manage;

    Hope this helps.

I think this very ghostly second shot works best out of the two.

Building these was is an art. I saw some freshly repaired dry stone wall on my last visit to the UK.

    Very peaceful.

Yes, on a nice day it would be.

But that morning was cold and very windy so it wouldn't have been comfortable sitting on the bench then.
