    Cromarty

Until last week, all I knew of Cromarty was that it's one of those mystical places that comes up in the shipping forecast between Forties and Forth. In fact it's a small historic fishing port on the Firth of Cromarty, and well worth a couple of hours wander en route to our daughter's place further east. The Firth of Cromarty is nowadays where North Sea oil platforms go to die, which makes for some interesting juxtapositions.

Brick lane, a bit OTT PPing I guess but it made the colours pop.

    Piacenza

Whilst I was in Piacenza a couple of weeks ago, I also visited the Cathedral which at first does not seem particularly interesting, just huge and massive, compared to the more famous Cathedrals along the Via Emilia like Fidenza, Parma or Modena. The curious thing about this cathedral are some little carvings on some of the columns. When the Duomo was built, the various artisan corporations of the city paid for its construction and they are depicted with little carvings on the columns. We can see a wheelwright, a shoemaker, a cobbler and weavers.

A mix of hand held and monopod with feet was used for this set.

Ineresting little cameos. They reminded me of the new gargoyles on Gloucester cathedral depicting local activities - horseracing, cheeserolling, coal mining and so on. As usual it's the crypt that appeals to me with its repetitions of columns and arches.

A very different Brick lane to the brick lane I saw in the early eighties.

    Colour saturation fits the scene.

Oops, I hit reply, rather than quote. And can't seem to delete it and start again.
@Woodsider - I really like the first. And I think the 6th is the best of the blends. Looks like a good place to visit.

Brilliant shot. I wonder if a tighter crop might be worth a try? Using the pillars as a frame.

I really like the composition you made with the first shot.

With those double exposures, I think the old paintwork superimposed on the rigs work best.
