Outstanding! My clear favorite immediately. Love the composition and the wonderful colors.

Would love to be able to take shots like this... Excellent work! 👍

I got very close to an eraser on a pencil and - with the help of a tiny Zeiss microfilm lens - was able to convince it to get rid of some of the redundant bokeh 😅:

I did a 'field study', trying to create a painterly look, as is discussed in detail here.

... and tried to capture these balancing acts with one of the most unusual scanner lenses I've seen so far (it has an almost perfectly round aperture and is able to create bubble bokeh like a Trioplan, even though it's most likely a 6 element design:

    Piacenza

Whilst I was in Piacenza a couple of weeks ago, I also visited the Cathedral which at first does not seem particularly interesting, just huge and massive, compared to the more famous Cathedrals along the Via Emilia like Fidenza, Parma or Modena. The curious thing about this cathedral are some little carvings on some of the columns. When the Duomo was built, the various artisan corporations of the city paid for its construction and they are depicted with little carvings on the columns. We can see a wheelwright, a shoemaker, a cobbler and weavers.

A mix of hand held and monopod with feet was used for this set.

They reminded me of the carvings at Bluewater Shopping Centre, depicting various professions in stone.

These are very nice, all featuring a really appealing palette. I'm a bit indifferent to multiple exposures, but these work well with both exposures complementing each other. Presumably they were made in camera?

    Cromarty

    Yes, all in-camera.

The first one is focus stacked (bracketed in-camera, assembled in Ps). It was pure luck that the jackdaw had its head turned at the right angle, as the the other shots in the sequence it was looking all over the place 😁

I think you have something there. It was much easer to snap away back then, no privacy neurotics ever hassled me on my wandering around London. London was also a lot more gritty and interesting back when I did these shots.

Some time ago I was shooting some architecture. Some woman passing by demanded to see what I had shot to make sure she was not in the picture.

    Piacenza II

Here are a few more pictures of my trip to Piacenza. Basilica di Sant'Antonino was the original city Cathedral, built outside the city walls. Much altered, the Romanesque origins are still mainly hidden under the Baroque makeover. The cloisters are a little oasis of peace and quiet.

    Why I Go Fishing - part 426.

I can understand fishing as measure to spend quality time, but doubt that fish in such water is tasting any good.. :P

Actually the water is excellent, it's from a natural spring. It was murky because of clay stirred up in heavy rain. But my fishing is catch and release anyway.

    Good one!
Wonder what they're queuing for ?

This was light show over weekend in 3 different places to celebrate end of long days and start of long nights, I visited one in old town. This queue is from people going upper part of old town where in Danish King's Garden light show was presented. However, it was filled with people already when I arrived, so I took some pictures of crowd and decided to go lower part of old town in hope that there is less people and this shot was made when I was stopped in my attempt by such crowd. This is Short Leg street, connecting lower and upper part, it's quite steep and narrow street with stairs and if there are people not able to climb stairs fast then such queues appear, especially if there is constant stream of people.
Below are some shots I made in lower part of old town, Danish King's Garden was too dark to get any good shots.

Light dance, also crowded and I did't want to squeeze any closer with my camera, instead I stood on old wall bit back to get better view.

    2. The Cool Kids

Okay, I may be pushing this anthropomorphic tree thing a bit here, but this scene makes me think of a bunch of cool kids pointing at and mocking our hero tree on the left for its bold choices when it decided to put down roots.

Man, what do you take before you go out on these walks??!
    No 7 for me.

These days, I always dose up with a heady cocktail of beta blockers, blood pressure tablets, aspirin and prostate meds, not to mention I carry an NTG spray for angina attacks in my pocket, just in case. Anyone stealing my stash is in for a crushingly disappointing trip.

On the plus side, I do have a vivid imagination.

    Ha! Very droll.
