    Thanks for the tour!
    My picks are shown above.
The winner would be the menacing tree; number 1 in my pick list above :-)
The bleached out processing seems to work OK in the one I picked here , but generally not a big fan of that method.

I think the first bleached shot works better. Although a moody B&W might work well too but I know you're not one for heavy processing.

I'm always a big fan of those crypts. They feature heavily in PC games that I very occasionally play.

Thanks Vahur and also to the others that complimented my wife's photo here.
She does have a good eye. We make a good team when out hiking, she'll often spot things I might have otherwise have missed. Things that I then capture with the "real" camera.
I've often suggested that she uses a real camera herself, even bought her a couple in the past but she still prefers the phone even though the images are not that suitable for larger prints. Why,... well it's small, easy to use and carry, the automatic processing with HDR etc. etc. makes for a good shot nearly every time (in the right hands). The photos can be immediately sent, without any pp, to our Whatsapp family group. And of course she has a husband with her that can take a real photo for those big prints she might need ;-)

    Reims

Our autumnal peregrinations took us via Reims last night. Everyone has to go to the cathedral. It's huge, and impressive in its way, but to me seemed dark and opressive. But the stained glass is amazing, much of it 13th century.

Not sure what's going on here...

The museum at Saint Remi is itself a wonderful renaissance building with this beautiful staircase. The Neanderthal exhibition was an interesting contrast!

Nigel recently showed some images from the Saint Remi basilica older and more to my taste than the cathedral. This candelabra reminded me of some of the amazing candelabras in turkish mosques.

Lovely pictures, Woodsider, particularly the staircase.

Those cathedrals are enormous. I remember sitting with the organist of Chartres Cathedral during a service, not daring to look over the edge. We were 30 meters (nearly 100 ft) above the floor of the cathedral, and had entered from the roof!

You are right the almost Romanesque Basilica is far more inviting, compared to the Cathedral. The Cathedral is built to impress and it does that well, especially the façade outside.

Looks like you had the Basilica almost to yourselves as well. When we visited in high summer it was almost deserted. The Cathedral was very busy. Silence in these old buildings adds a lot to the atmosphere of a visit.

There was actually a christening going on when we arrived at St Remi, but a very restrained affair and soon finished. There were a few other sightseers about, but nothing compared to the cathedral the evning before. The exterior was difficult to photograph in its entirety due to a large (dormant) funfair parked in the square!

Absolutely gorgous shots! I love the compositions, but also the processing and tones - it's pretty much perfect in my opinion. Very impressive!

A weekly flickr group had the theme "harmony"... Even though I've done soo many music shots already, I decided to try something in that area again, because it usually is really enjoyable regardless:

Not sure about the faded look, but the aspect ratio works well.

It's amazing how these little gems turn up hidden away under such unassuming buildings.
