Fabulous sculptures. Berta looks rather startled!

Beautiful colours in this one, but I feel slightly restricted by the crop.
This one
I decided to take this weekend bit easier. I saw that there was some folk music band giving show, some songs were devoted to god. On site it turned out that folk was from Sweden and god's name was Odin, this meant that it was
VIKING METAL NIGHT
One of the warm up bands was local, called Külmking
Interesting. The circular window is still circular in this shot so the lens is not deforming and a hyper wide angle should stretch at the edges. I guess the exaggerated perspective effects of the twin towers are playing with perception. But in real life it is quite squat compared to the classic Gothic cathedral, like the nearby Cathedrals in Parma and Piacenza, which are basically fit into a square.
Inside they played a clever mind game. At the entrance the church is 10m wide. At the Apse it is 8.5m, to heighten the perspective effect, and give an impression of greater length.

I really liked the delicacy of the colours in this set.

The last is easily the best shot in my eyes but the first is good too.

My Engineering studio has had a good year, so I treated myself to a Laowa 15mm PC lens. I have been sitting on the fence regarding this lens for some time as reviews were a bit contradictorily. I wish I had bought one sooner, as it seems a very capable lens.
To test it out, I made a visit to the (tripod friendly) Duomo in Fidenza to put it through its paces and fill in some gaps I left on my first visit. I really needed the 15PC for the façade shot. as the piazza in front of the church is very narrow. The Duomo is late Romanesque, leaning towards Gothic with some incredible carvings on the façade many attributed to Antelami, who is more famous for his work in Parma. The interior is rather plain, but imposing. The 24mm TS and the old 35mm PC were also used for this set together with the 24-200 for detail shots.
I was just getting ready to go home, when they turned the external lighting on. The blue hour mix of lighting was great for photography.
Looks good to me! Although the low perspective gives the impression the building is a little squat. No in the illegal residents sense ;-)
But I've not seen it in real life. And I love the architecture in the penultimate. Nicely lit too, by you and the floods.

That is clever. A bit like entasis as used by the Greeks (and stolen by Lutyens for The Cenotaph).
My new Portfolio on THE PHOTO (DPRevived)
This week instead of adding just a photo here, I'd like to show you a whole portfolio of images :-)
Alan Sharkey has spent a lot of time creating a new Portfolio feature on DPREVIVED and Alan asked for contributions from us all.
I jumped at the chance for displaying my work, and you could do the same too if you'd like to have your own portfolio. Here's the link to my portfolio
hope you like it :-)

As I mentioned in the other thread: A highly impressive collection of images - fantastic work! A worthy tribute to the "Heimat großer Töchter & Söhne!" 👍

Some pretty jaw dropping stuff in this set. If looks could kill in 9 is my standout, closely followed by the first one.
Very different to your bird photography, which you have not showed us for a while.

Yes, I saw your lovely portfolio. Some shots I remember, some are new to me.
Let's hope this initiative helps bring some more momentum to this little corner of the web.
Any of these stand out over the others?
They work nicely as a concept together. Yes a slight crop to the first shot.

I especially liked the second one with the bird and the hut. The gallery software is a bit unrefined. I imagine it is a work in process.

Interesting concept. On the last one I would crop out the shadow at the bottom.

The stone carvings have amazing details in these shots, sharp & noise free too
My favourite is this one from outside with the lights on in the blue hour

TrevorWow - an amazing portfolio there. Each picture is a winner on its own (particularly the drizzling water shot) but shown as a gallery with a common theme they really bounce off of each other.
Thanks Wormsmeat.
There's a space on the portfolio side waiting for your photos too. The difficult part you'll have, is to choose only 12 :-)

Yes indeed Austria is a beautiful place. I feel lucky to live here.
It will be difficult to choose only 12 images for your portfolio page but looking forward to seeing that soon !
