Some memories of late autumn in begin of winter..

Last week here was quite bad weather wise, this nice snow cover turned into water and ice. So I'm spending my time looking at photos made in late autumn near my apartment...

I wonder why f/1.7 is so popular: the focus seems to be on the kerb in the foreground. 😀

We had a bit of snow here this morning -- but not enough!

I like these two best, particularly the upper one with the contrast between colour and almost monochrome.

Quite an effective image, sky may not be completely real but it does fit nicely here to the christmas tree.
I found the 40 foot pig that Stig was looking for :-)

I think the mannequines shot is best. I like the strong contrast, nice and sharp too. It would also work if you cropped a fair bit off the top and bottom.
The tall gentleman with the shiny shoes is also well caught. I guess that was a sneaky shot from the hip?
Not sure how he would have reacted if he had seen you take it? ;-)

The hall is my favorite of these. I would have removed the foreground hole in the floor.

The other one has a focus issue.

    December landscapes

December has so far been unrelentingly grey skies and rain. But the colours of the landscape can be surprisingly rich.
No seasonal snow here, but a Merry Christmas to all!

Three rather gentle pictures. The middle one is my favourite.

I find grey days the hardest to deal with, even if the colours can become quite intense.

The tunnel shot is quite clever. Winter is a bit strange this year.

    Castell'Arquato

Castell'Arquato, is a fascinating Medieval village perched on a hill top, near Piacenza(Italy). It can get quite crowded, especially in the summer, as it is a popular day trip destination. I went there a few weeks ago on a Sunday, and the exterior shots I wanted were impossible. I hoped last Sunday, that being Christmas shopping time, the place might be less crowded. I wanted to do some post sunset shots of the exteriors, to have better light.

I mostly used the D850 with my 24PC

PS I have made a thread here where I ask you all to post your 12 favorite shots that you have taken this year

    DSC_2414 1.jpg

This part of the thread shows some shots I took for my Romanesque project, as it got progressively darker

This is interesting because two parts of the frame were spot lit. I was able to recover an incredible amount of detail from the shadows.

The building as pictured in number 3 looks really interesting. I can image why the hordes go there :-)

The lighting on the church wall in number 5 is great.

The composition in the next one I've selected works very well!
The curves seem free and the tower is straight and has space to breathe. The warm colours contrasted against the sky in the blue hour are splendid.
Perhaps you could crop a tiny bit off the top?

The way the detail in the last one was recovered is quite incredible.
